no harmful effects whatever.
This demonstration was conducted
by Dr. W. Jay Bell, an Atlanta physi

GOOD FRIDAY ---ITS MEANING |
g s S
Friday before Easter day—that is
Friday of this week—marks the anni
versary of Christ's Passion and Death
and has from early times been ohserv
cd with great solemnity by Christians.
The antiquity of a practice, of course,
does not in itself commend it, the fact,
iherefore, that Good Friday has bheen
sbserved for centuries does not nec
assarily bespeak its value. The essen
tial worth, however, of Good Friday
has been demonstrated to the satis
action of generationus of Christians as
a part of their Christian experience—
and testimony of this sort cannot be in
defferently set aside.
The writer of this article feels as
sured that no person will sincerely
and ecarnestly consider the meaning
5f Good Friday and attempt himself
to live over on that day the details of
Lis Savior's Passion, and then dare to
say that the devotional ohservance of
the day is not worth while. The truth
is that since the Reformation too many
»f the earlier practices which mark
the Christian of all ages prior to the
sixteenth century and which ‘were
found in his experience to commend
‘hemselves have been ruthlessly flung
away. Whatever may have been the
henign consequences of the Reforma-

tion otherwise, it undoubtediy had the
effect of impoverishing Protestant
Christianity of many of those elements
which enriched ouf/religion of an ear
lier day. The fact that few of the read
ers of this article have ever in their
lives set aside a single day in the year
to humble reflection and prayer with
special regard to the Crucifixion and
it alone, is significant. The writer
draws attention to this defect in no
spirit intended to stir denoiminational
resentment, he merely alludes to the
fact itself and as such. And he asks
the question of an unprejudiced read
er whether or not in his opinion the
day upon which the Savior of the uni
verse gave His life for us on Calvary
should be in some way taken notice
of by His followers and His children.
Services will be conducted at Christ

service will consist of meditations up

observances may occur in all Christian
churches to the welfare of Christian
souls and to the strengthening o

Of the Real Functions of An
Effective Medicine
BY THE NUXCARA COMPANY
PN
It has been a source of general won
der how the many different forms of
stomach trouble can be successfully
treated with the same remedy. Hence
this word of explanation. Medicine will
not cure stomach trouble or any other
disease. Yourown healing force must
restore the diseased organ to healthful
ness. A medicine of real worth serves
the single function of producing eondi
tions in which your healing force may
be unhindered.
For 15 years the Nuxcara treatment,
based on this logical grinciple, has had
complete success in the treatment of zll
forms of stomach trouble. Write for
