SLAYER OF MISS EUBANKS
-+ FACES COURT FOR MURDER
* Macon, Ga., May B.—D. B. Branam
who has maintained a sphinx-like sil
ence since he fired the shot that killed
Miss Rosa Eubanks, on the night of
February 13, as the young woman was
on her way home from work and while
Branam was on a drunken carouse,
will go on trial for his life in Bibb
county superior court this week, with
Judge H. A. Mathews presiding.
~ It was the crime for which Branam
is to be tried that precipitated the
greatest fight of Macon’s history
against the saloon—a fight that result
ed in the closing of sixty-four licensed
“ beer places and the signing of pledges
by more than fifty men who had been
arrested for violating the state prohi
bition law and the city’s ordinance
relative to the sale of whiskey.

EXPECT GOOD PRICES FOR
DIMINISHED PEACH CROP

undoubtedly send in many orders on
a basis of cash f. 0. b. cars, bank guar

representation in about 250 cities and
towns embracing all the territory east
of the Mississippi as far southwest as
New Orleans and as far southwest as

I IN PUBLIC ROADS
} Plow hands and farmers whcse
fields are adjoining the public roads
of Crisp county are warned against
dragging plows or other farm imple
ments up and down the public highway
so as to make furrows or trenches or
otherwise damage madways.
It is also a violation’of the law to
drag plows or other implements in

It is also a v iolation of the law to
drag dizt or other debris into the ditch
es and trenches along the roadways
and this notice is given to fully warn
those who are accustomed to such
practice. The roads must be kept open
and the county is put to a very large
