HONORING MISS RYALS.
Thursday afternoon Mrs. U. V. Whip
ple was hostess to a hundred of her
friends when she honored Miss La
mar Ryals with a linen shower. The
home was attractive in its doceration
of white, oleander and valley lilies
being used in profusion throughout
the home.
The guests met by Misses Alice
Whipple, Faustelle Williams, Thelma
Cook, Louise Slade, Sarah Strozier
and Claudia Pate, who carried them
into the library where they were re
ceived by Mrs. Whipple, Miss Ryals,
Mrs. Joe Espy, Miss Frances Cars
well, Miss Pansy Webb, Miss Mary
McArthur, Miss Harriett Carswell and
Miss Lucile Diffee.
Little Miss Mary Ballenger and
Master Jack Palmer then led DMiss
Ryals and her attendans into the din
ing room and seated them at the ta
ble. Over the table was suspended
a wedding bell of white tulle and from
the chandelier tulle was draped to
each corner, ending in fluffy bows on
the baskets of valley lilies.

tostezs. The honoree was showere-l
with dainty linens and lingerie from
the wedding bell after which the cale,
concealing the bridal charm, was cut.

On Friday morning Master Jack
Palmer entertained his class-mates of
the First grade in honor of Miss La
mar Ryals, their teacher. Those re
ceiving were Master Jack Palmer,
Miss Ryals, Mrs. B. H. Palmer, and
Miss Maggie Bass. The school room
was beautifully decorated in white and
green. After the children had sung

MRS. WHEELER'S RECEPTION
FOR MIiSS RYALS.
The library and drawing room of
Mrs. Homer Wheeler's home on
Twelfth avenue were attractive with
bowls of varigated sweet peas Thurs
day afternoon when Mrs. Wheeler en
tertained at a reception for Miss La
mar Ryals, a bride elect. In the din
ing room a color scheme of pink was
\carried out by the baskets of Dorothy
perkins roses. “The table was lovely
with its roses, pink shaded candles,
and festoons of pink tulle from the
chandelier to the corners of the ta
ble. An orchestra furnished delight
ful music during the afternoon.

FOR MISS RYALS.
The Thalian club was entertained
by Mrs. Hugh Lasseter in honor of
Miss Lamar Ryals on Wednesday,
May 15. Miss Ryals and the club
members were gracefully received by
Mrs. Lasseter and her sister, Mrs.
Flanders. The parlor was prettily
decorated with green. The club col
ors, green and gold, were carried out
in every detail. Dainty little booklets
encased in green covers with a gold
T Printed in the center, were passe,
in which were found questions to be
answered by one of Shakespeare’s
plays which formed a charming ro
mance. Mrs. Lasseter then, in Dbe
haif of the club, presented to Miss
Ryals a bronze bust of Shakespéare,
in appreciation of her work as a mem
ber. It was interesting to recall that
the initial meeting was held at her
house and that she was the inspra
tion of the Thalian club. At roll call
each member responded with a Shakes
perian toast to Miss Ryals, afterwards
written and presented to her, on love
ly score cards handpainted with a daf
fodil, the club flower. Delightful
cream and cake with punch was
served.

MISS LAMAR RYALS
ENTERTAINED BY HER CLASS.
A very unique eniertainment was
given Miss Ryals by her class Friday
morning. Suggestive of her approach
ing marriage, wedding bells were sus
pended with rose leaves as clappers,
which by pulling cords attached were
showered upon the queenly bride
elect. The class presented Miss Ryals
with a “Marriage Book,] wherein will
be preserved interesting events at
tending her marriage. Delightiul re
freshments were served.

MISS LEDBETTER.
Mr. J. K. Smith's class of the Bap
tist Sunday school entertained at a
very delightful lawn party at his home
on Eleventh avenue Wednesday night
complimentary to Miss Elizabeth Led
better who leaves soon to spend the
summer at points in North Georgia.
There were about fifty young people
present and a very enjoyable evening
was spent -after which delicious re
freshments were served,

Mrs. Louvenia Durham, of Crisp
couaty, and Mr. J. Robert Stephens,
of Turner county, were married on
last Wednesday afiernoon at the home
oi the bride in the Fourteenth dis
irict. The ceremony was performed
by Rev. G. W. McCranie. Mr. Steph
one is a brother of Mr. W. Hardy
Stephens of this county.

will preach.
Mr. Green was licensed to preach at
the last Distriet Conference which
met in Perry. He has many friends
in Cordele who will be glad to hear
him deliver his first sermon.
