AIRSHIP ON ANOTHER
[ VISIT OVER ENGLAND
’ London, Aug. 4.—Cerman airships
have again flown over the castern
counties of England, dropping bombs.
An official communication just issued
says: :
“A sumber of airships crossed the
coast of the easterh counties shortly
after midnight. Their objective has
not yet been definitely ascertained, as
the raid is still proceeding. Some
hombs were dropped at various
places.”
SOUTHERN EXPENDITURES
! Washington, D. C. August 2.—During
iJune 1916, the Southern Railway com
‘pany = distributed for labor, material,
supplies and other purposes, $5,328,320
of which, $4,589,493 or 88.13 per cent
was paid to individuals and industries
located in the south. Due to the prog
ress made by the company in its im
provements, large amounts were ex
pended during the month for construc
tion purposes; the total amount dis
bursed by the company during the
month in the south was $614, 806 in ex
cess of the total moneys contributed
by the south for transportation pur
poses, according to figures announced
today by comptroller A. H. Plant,show
ing results of operation of the com
pany for the month of June, 1916, and
for the period of twelve months ended
June 30, 1916, compared with the same
month and period in 1915 and 1914, ex
clusive of interest, rentals and other
income charges. The comparison
with 1914 is made for the reason that
in 1915 the effect of the business de
pression -was reflected through the
revenues of the company. -
