‘ng the bedroom of Ira Gibbs, a farmer
living eight milés east of Tifton, an
unknown thief stole $9,000 from the
sillow slip beneath the head of the
slumbering farmer Sunday morning.
According to Mr. Gibbs he had re
tired at the usual time and placed the
money in his pillow case for safe
keeping. The first indication that he
had of the theft was the violent bump
which his head received when the
villow - was pulled from under it
Jumping up, Mr. Gibbs secured his
revolver and fired several times at the
figure around the corner o fthe house.
Sheriff Shaw, of Tift county, was
summoned and attempted to place

‘BOARDING HOUSE “POOL”
VIOLATION OF TIGER LAW
Atlanta, Oct. 10.—For a number of
hoarders in a boarding house to “pool”
their various individual supplies of
iiquor in a common lot, and for each
»f them to use from the common lot
without regard to® whether he is tap
ing the bottle he put in or the bottle
put in by some other boarder, is a vio
-lation of the Georgia prohibition laws,
according to a ruling delivered by Re
worder Johnson of this city, in the
case of a hoarding house landlady ar
rested on a charge of having on hand
» larger supply than the law allows.
Her defense when arraigned before
the recorder was that the liquor did
not belong to her, but belonged to her
yoarders; and she then explaixied that
“the boys” threw all their liquor in
together and used out of the common
lot whenever they wanted a drink,
without going to the trouble of keep
‘ng each one’s individual supply in
sach one’s individual room, which en
ailed a lotecf walking back and forth
from the living room where they are
wont to congregate of evenings.
«] have no doubt you are telling the
truth, madame,” said the recorder,
« for all that sounds very plausible
and probable, but the keeping of in
dviidual supplies of liguor in common
lots was exactly the sort of an ar
rangement in vogue by the locker
clubs before the passage of the pres
ent laws, and was exactly the sort of
arrangement prohibited by the anti
iocker provisions of the law.”
The recorder dismissed the case
against the landlady, inasmuch as
there had been no diserder or bois
terous conduct in her boarding house,
hut he admonished her in the future
io see that each of her “boys” kept
his own individual supply in his own
individual room, and did his own in
dividua! drinking in the same place,
using no other boarder’s liquor but
Pis own.

TAKE SALTS TO FLUSH KIDNEYS
IF BACK HURTS OR BLADDER
BOTHERS.
1f you must have your meat every
day, eat it, but flush your kidneys with
salts occasionally, says a noted au
thority who tells us that meat forms
uric acid which almost paralyzes the
kidneys in their efforts to expel it
from the blood. They become sluggish
and weakened, then you suffer a dull
misery in the kidney region, sharp
pains in the back or sick headache,
dizziness, your stomach sours, tongue
is coated and when the weather is
bad you have rheumatic twingds. The
urine gets cloudy, full of sediment,
the channels often get sore and irri
tated, obliging you to seek relief two
or three times during the night.
To necutralize these irritating acids,
to cleanse the kidneys and flush off
the body’s urinous waste get four
ounces of Jad Salts yrom any pharma
cy here; take a tablespoonful in a
glass of water before breakfast for
a few days and your kidneys wil then
act fine. This famous salts is made
from the acid of grapes and lemon
juice, combined with lithia, and has
heen used for generations to flush and
stimulate sluggish kidneys, also to
neutralize the acids in urine, so it no
longer irritates, thus ending bladder
weakness.
Jad Salts is inexpensive; cannot in
jure, and makes a delightful effer
vescent lithia-water drink.
