lin. They went as delegates from the
local chapter W. D. C., of which -Miss
Atkins is pregsident, an honor she has

since the chapter was organized.

'SYMPHONY CLUB.
The Symphony Club met with Mrs.
T. J. Durrett Saturday afternoon at
2.30 o’clock. One-half hour of husiness
entertained the club, immediately fol
lowing the call to order. At this time
the club vote unanimously to again
enter the State Federation of Woman’s
Clubs, having dropped out during their
struggle with raising funds for the
| piano.
i Mrs. J. M. Diffee was elected dele
gate to the State Convention, with
Miss Helen Comer as alternate. The
conyentjon, meets in Macon, October
25-28.

Two of the most brilliant affairs on
the week’s social calendar were the
events at which Mrs. W. E. Haskell
was hostess Tuesday morning and af
terncon complimenting: Mrs. T. K.
Bradiey and little daughter, Mary
Edith. ;
Rook was the game for the morning
affair. The decorations were most at
tractive, the color note of yellow being
carried out in minute detail. Dahlias,
marigold and golden rod and ferns
were effectively used. A lovely touch
of pink augmented the decorations by
4 vase of paulneyron roses. Yellow
lighted candles used in the parlor fur
ther carried out the color motif. The
reception hall, parlor and dining room
were thrown together for the enter
tainment of Mrs. Haskell’s guests. As
sisting Mrs. Harkell in ‘serving were
Mesdames J. M. Diffee, J. K. Carswell
and Homer Wheeler.
On arrival the guests were served
tea, coffee and sandwiches. After the
game an oyster and salad course was
served, including the following menu:
Oyster cccktail, sliced turkey, cran
berry sauce, beaten Dbiscuit, sweet
pickle s,tomato salad, stuffed dates.
