WITH WILSON'S ELECTION CER
TAIN BULLISH TENDENCY OF
PAST FEW DAYS IS RESUMED.
New York, Nov. 11.—An unmistak
able turn away from political influ
ence was manifesied by today’s stock
market. Wall street evidently ac
cepted the nationak election as a set
iied fact and proceeded with the bull
ish enthusiasm of recent days.
There were some nominal declines
at the opening but these were more |
‘ihan counterbalanced by the strength
of various specialties, some of which
irose to unprecedented prices. Chiefly
among these were Central Leather
which advanced 3 1-2 points to 122 1-2,
making a gain of 20 points thus far
this week, International paper, which
rose over five points to 74, Lackawan
na Steel 2 points to 97 and American
writing paper preferred 4 peints to
59 3-4.
Gains of 2 to 4 points occurred in
otlier teading issues, including Cuba
cane sugar, and some of the better
known equipments.
l Copper and the metal group in gen
oral were strong at gains of a point or
more.
United States Steel was taken in
two lots of 1,000 to 6,000 shares at one
point advance and other favorites
were higher on an average gain of a
point. |
