icfi which are to begin Sunday at the ‘
lirst Methodist church, together with ‘1
the organized co-operation of the mem- i

A touching coincidence-A friend of
the years agome, placed ore the now’
silent heart of Mrs. Caroline i, Ligon,
a rose, plucked from the garden of her
old home here, where, she, in company
with her loved ones, who are nearly all
gone to their rewar\dé, planted each
shrub and flower some thirty years
ago. Tenderest memories encircle the
tiny floweret, which beautifuly arorn
ed the remains of our departed friend.

The Presbyterian Revival services I
closed last night. Are we, as a people, I
who, have these years been so signally 1
blessed of God, mindful of the things |
worth while, for time and eternity or,
are ge engrossed with the things
which “perish with the using”? The
closing of this meeting, (which was
propitioug of much geood), earlier than
was intended, is ominous of our deve
liction. Oh may we be up and doing,
“Redeeming the time, because the
days are evil”,

The recital at the auditorium Fri

INSPIRATION.
Because you love me I have found
New joy. that were not mine before;
New Stars have lighted up my sky
With glories growing more and more.
Because you love me I can rise
To perfect trust, Faith’s own high
tower;
Because you love me I may learn
The highest use of every hour.
.|;
Because you love me, I can choose
To look through your dear eyes and
see
Beyond the beauty of the Now—
Far onward to eternity.
Because vou love me, I can wait
With perfect patience well possessed;
Because you love me, all my life
Is circled with unquestioned rest;
Yes. even Life and even Death
Is all unquestioned and all blest.

'SAVE THE WORLD'S CHILDREN.
l (By Mrs. A. F. Churchwell.)
\ Baby week was inaugurated by
' Chicago in 1914, and a second baby
}week was celebrated by New York
City in June of the same year., Follow
ing their lead Pittsburgh, Indianapolis.
Topeka,Grand Rapide, and a few other
cities held similar celebrations, co™
sisting of a week dedicated to the wel
fare of babies. Lectures, exhibits, baby
health conferences and contest, school
program ,parades, plays the distri
bution of pamplets, leaflets and other
rinted matter on the care of the baby.
t’DNewspaper publicity and other expe
dients were used to concentrate atten
} tion for seven days on the babys needs
i with an emphasis calculated to inspire
a popular response and result in
permaneufl work for the ireduction
of infant morality and for inprove
ment in conditions affecting the wel
fare of babies and young children. The
General Federations of Woman's
Clubs and the children’s Bureau an
nounced their purpose to co-operate in
promoting a nation-wide children’s
year.
The President of and Secretary of
Labor gave public indorsement to the
plan. Save the babies: is the cry now
being heard around the world, as na
tion upon nation looks aghast at the
apalling figures of death written a-j
cross their National life. ,{
A correspondent of one of our At
lanta papers tells us many precious
personal possessions are sacrificed
in America and England to help the
great cause. The Duchesg of Marl
porough who was Consuelo Vander
bilt, daughter of W. K. Vanderbilt of
New York City, Lady Henry, formerly
Miss Lewisohn also of New (York
City, Mrs. John Aster, Lady Randolph
Churchill and Lady Reading, wife of
the English ambassador to America
and others too numerous to mention
have been actively associated in this
worl and have given their jewels to
help raise sufficient funds to estab
lish and carry on this splendid and
noble work. Beginning (Saturday)
June the Ist, Miiss McDonald our most
capable Probation Officers and Social
Welfare worker will ask the people
of Cordele to co-operate with her in
making “Baby Week” a grand suc
cess.
APPRECIATIVE TOKENS.
We extend our heart felt thanks, and
sincere appreciation to the Cordele
