Albert J. Helton, a 17-year old boy
shot and instantly killed Georgia W.
Payne, a 35-year farmer, on whose
place he had been a tenant. The men
nad trouble over g crop, it is said. ‘
Helton was captured soon after Ih(\I
shooting and confined in the I“loy(li
county jail, without bail, awaiting ac
tion of the grand jury, which (-on\'en-I

Helton claims that the difficulty
was fomented by Mrs. Payne, who
told her husband that Helten had
come to kill him, when, in reality,
he had gone for some of his house
hold goods.
He said he called Mrs. Payne a liar
wlhereupon Payne hit him, knocking
