the Georgia Cotton Ginners Associa
tion, which convened today in the At
lanta Chamber of Commerce. M. M.

cipal speaker.
~ Speakers declared the cost of labor
,and bagging had gone up during the
last year and suggested an increase
in the charge of cotton ginning as the
only way to |ceep the gins of the state
on a paying basis, Last year the
ginners charged 70 cents for ginning
100 pounds of lint cotton. It was the
belief of the convention that the price
will have to be raised 10 cents a 100
pounds. This probable increase cannot
be decided until after lh}: sessions of
cotton ginners associations in the va

ITALY HAS TO DEPEND |
: #...'» ON ELECTRIC POWER
Rome, June 12.—ltaly’s lack of coal
has foced her to depend more and
\more upon electric power. During the
‘period of 1914 to 1918 more than one
hundred million dollars was expend
ed on water power electric plants by
electric companies in Turin and Milan.
Italy’s annual consumption of coal
reaches 12,000,000 tons. For ail of it
she is dependent upon either England
or America. The war naturally made
the transportation of it a difficult
problem so Italian engineers were
forced to build large hydro-electric
stations, Italy could save at least
‘hree-fourth of her coal consumption,
by using her water power according
