Norman F. Williamson. Miss McCall’
has worked faithfully in upbuilding
the Good Wjll Center in Savannah
and leaves many friends there as well
as in other parts of the state whose
best wishes follow her to her home in
the Orient.

ary Union Manual, and. Miss Florence
Sith, of Rome, will teach the Junior
Comrades in .Service. A story hour

a ten days trip to Macon, Newnan and
other points. The bride has made
Cordele her home for a number of
years and’'is & most admirable young
woman. The groom is one of Cor
dele’s progressive young business
men, Living been in the cotton busi
ness here for the past several years.
Their many friends extend congratu
lations and best wishes for a happy
and prosperous married life. .

(GUARDS ON DUTY
Dublin, July 11.—Bob Ashley, one
of the negroes shot Sunday near here
was brough t to Laurens county
jail here tonight and is being guarded
!by the Dublin Home Guards, under
‘command. of Cap. L. C. Pope. The
Guards were ordered out by the
governer DPorsey late today, it under
stood, upon receipt of information
from here of probable trouble. Shcriff‘
Watson does not anticipated any
trouble but it prepared for it. |
The negro Ashley is, believed to bo‘
dying. He was shot at the time George
Greene, a wllitei man, , was kil!ed.'
Other negroes wanted in connection
with the shooting are be'ng sought.
There is late tonight no indication of
any attempt to take Ashley from the
authorities.
Savannah Guards Ready
Savannah, July 11.—It is reported
here tonight that the Home Guard of
Savannah has been advised to hold
itself in readiness to respond to a
possible call for duty at Dublin. No
'official statement is made here con
cerning the situétion, which is be
lived to be the result of a search that
has been in progress in Laurens coun
ty for several days for negroes
wanted on a charge of killing two
white men on lat Sunday.
