sports arrived here today rom Brest
‘with 15,6000 troops, the Cap Finistere

Troops aboard the Cap Finisterre
included units of the 813th Service
Pioneer Infantry, the majority of
whose men hall from Illiois, Pennsyl
vania, Virginia and Tennessee, com
manded by Major W. J. White, of
Parkersburg West Va, units of the
341st Service Battalion including men
from Virginia, Texas, Alabama and
New York, and a contingent of cas
uals among whom was Major General
William H. Hay. The Cap Finisterre
also brought 167 “war brides,” four
of whom were Russian wives of Amer
ican soldiers who fought near Ar
changel.
Transport Was Overcrowded.
Criticism of the port autorities at
Brest were voiced by army officers,
one thousand of whom arrived in the
ship's steerage. They declared the
transport had been overcrowded.
The Imperator brought units of the
804th and 813th Pioneer Infantry;
