You Can Depend On A Gillett
"The automobile owner wants to cut tire mileage. That
is a part of Bis purpose to save money. One sure way is to buy a
Gillette. It costs a little more at first, but the :double mileage
puts you far ahead in the long run. Make it a Gillette next time.

LIGHTS AND SHADOWS ON AN
; ‘OHIO FARM
From Ohio comes a story which
gives an ingight into what modern con
veniences have come to mean in the
farm home.
A certain farm house in Montgom
enry County, Ohio, was almcst entirely
destroyed Ly fire a short time zgo.
The house was of brick, roomy and
substantialy built as most old-fash
joned farm houses are. Thick stout
%alls and good workmanship are prob
ably what saved the house from heing
destroyed, but is it was, nothihng much
but the four walls were left standing.
The house is being remodeled now
with some enlargements and consider
able changes as to interior arrange
ment. The owner is seeing to it in
this rebuilding that the new house will
have all modern conveniiences. |
- Among such conveniences is, of
cours, electric service, The lwner
thad electricity in the old house, the
,clectric plant being installed in the
'hasement. In a fire which destroyed
‘everything ingide the walls the plant
was of course* ruined. Fortunately
there was a new garage on the plase a‘
short distance from the house and the|
family was forced to move into thlsi
garage temporarily. The first thing
that the farmer did on the morning‘
after the fire was to call up the man
who had sold him his electric plant
and order another one. Before night
the new plant was in and the family
was efijoying the convenience of elec
tric light despite the fact that, they
had no house to live in. The pumping
system which supplied the old house
was locatell cutside of the house and
a little distance from’it and was not
destroyed in the fire, so that it was
an easy matter to pipe the water into
the garage'. This pumping gystem was
F‘also operated by electricity so that as
!soon as the plumbing was completed
I.the family was enjoying running water
in the garage just as they hed in the
lhouse. : l
This experience goes to show the
‘extent to which the farm family be
comes attached to modern convenien
t’ces. _This particular family has found
that electric light and running water
have made life in their present rather:
crowded living quarters much more’
comfortable and it is certain that they
stipation that you may have.
Take it when you feel drowsy, ,
dizzy or bilious, when you feel a
‘cold or a fever coming on, when
there is an epidemic, when you
have eaten anything about which
you are in doubt. It is at such
times that you need to be free of
g)isons and of fermenting foods.
ou can buy Dr. Caldwell’s 3yrup
Pepsin at any drug store. Thou
sands of families have it con
stantly in the house against
emergencies.
In spite of the fact that Dr. Cald
well’s Syrup Pepsin is the largest selling
liquid laxative in the world, there
being over 6 million bottles sold each i
year, many who necd its benefits have
not-yet used it. If you have not, send
your name and address for a free trial
bottle to Dr. W. B. Caldwell, 512
Washington St., Monticello, lilinois.
will make the fullest possible use of
electricity in their new home when it
is completed. Z /
