joci.i'.es, all of the county of Jackson,
respectfully shows:
1. That they desire for themselves, 1
their associates, successors and as
figns, to be incorporated under the
name and style of The Jefferson
Hutel Company, for a period of
twenty years, with the privilege of
renewal, as provided by law.
2. That the principal office of the
said corporation shall be in the City
of Jefferson, Jackson County, Geor
gia.
3. That the object of said corpor
ation is pecuniary gain to itself and
its hareholders, and to build in Jef
ferson, Georgia, a modern, up-to-date,
steam-heated brick hotel, fully equip
ped with hot and cold baths.
4. That the particular business to
be carried on by the said corporation
is to build by contract, or otherwise,
a hotel building, and to lease such
building to a hotel operator, or to
operate a general hotel business.
5. That the capital stock of said
corp< 'ration shall be twenty thousand
dollars ($20,000.00), with the privil
ege of increasing same to fifty thou
sand dollars ($50,000.00), or less,
by a majority vote of the common
stock, said stock to be divided into
shares of one hundred dollars (SIOO.-
00) each, par value.
6. Petitioners desire the right to
sue and be sued, to plead and be im
pleaded, to have and use a common
seal, to make all necessary by-laws
and regulations, and to do all other
things that may be necessary to suc
cessfully carry on said business, in
cluding the right to buy and sell real
estate and personal property, also
to buy or build such buildings as may
be necessary for carrying on said
business, and to execute notes and
bonds as evidence of indebtedness
incurred, or which may be incurred,
in the conduct of the affairs of the
corporation, and to secure same by
mortgage, security deed, or other
form of lein, under existing laws.
7. They desire for said corpor
ation the power and authority to ap
ply for and except amendments to
its charter of either form or sub
stance by a majority vote of the
common stock. They also ask for
authority for said corporation to
wind up its affairs, liquidate, and
discontinue business at any time it
may determine to do so by a two
thirds vote of the common stock.
8. They desire for said corpor
ation the right of renewal when and
as provided by laws of Georgia, and
that it have such other rights, powers,
privileges and immunities herein set
forth, and as are now, or may here
after be allowed corporations of simi
lar character under the laws of Geor
gia.

Balloon, Airplane, Horse and Auto Races, Fireworks and
Shows Feature $50,000 Free Amusement Program
Atlanta, Ga., September 30. —The
Southeastern will launch its 11th
season In Atlanta this Saturday, run
ning from October 2 to 9, with the
most complete exhibition of the ag
ricultural, live stock, commercial and
educational resources of Georgia It
has ever presented and with a $60,-
000 amusement program that will
eclipse anything ever attempted In
the past, It was announced today, on
the very eve of the opening, by Oscar
Mills, vice president and general man
ager of the fair.
More than $60,0 M) In cash premiums
and valuable sehclarships have filled
the agricultural, ;attle> swine, poul
try, dog, woman’s work and other
shows with the best products not only
of Georgia but of all sections of the
United States from lowa to Florida
and from New York to Arizona, the
most distant states represented in
the exhibits.
The" $50,000 free amusement pro
gram will begin each morning with
concerts by Basilo’s famous-- Madison
Square Gardeil, N. Y.. band and other
bands, horse, airplane, balloon and
automobile racing each afternoon, the
“Hello Girls’ Revue,” a typical Broad
way "girl show,” Morales’ trained
dogs, Frlscoe's trained seals and sea
lions, the Fearless Gregg’s, a death
defying automobile loop-the-loop, the
Flying Bernard's aerial acrobatic dare
devil performance, and other free acts
both afternoon and evening, and a
spectacular fireworks program cost
ing $2,000 each night.
English, French and American aer
onauts have entered the balloon races,
anew feature for Southeastern fair.
They will race for $2,000 purses dally,
the balloonist gaining the highest al
titude winning. Judges will observe
the balloons from airplanes.
The airplane exhibitions will In
clude races, wing-walking, parachute
leaping, high dives from airplanes
into the lakes and other death-defy
ing feats.
The Zledman and Polie Shows, with
20 clean shows and 20 thrilling rides,
will supplement the regular Lake
wood Park amusements on the Mid
way. Mike anu ike, the fatnous mid
gets, a midget horse show, Ethel
Dore’s water circus of bathing beau
ties, a minstrel show- and 16 other at
tractions are Included.
N. Y. “GIRL SHOW"
AT ATLANTA FAIR
New York City, September 28.—The
“Hello Girls Revnue,” a novelty musi
cal and dancing show now playing to
packed houses at a prominent Broad
way theater. Is to close its run here
on October 2 to go to Atlanta for a
week’s engagement at the Seutheast
ern Fair, October 2 to 9, It was an
nounced by the management of the
theater today.
The show w'as selected by a local
booking agent in compliance with the
following telegram from Oscar Mills,
v!co president and general manager
of the Southeastern Fair in Atlanta,
a telegram which ’caused much dis
cussion along theater row:
“We folks in Georgia want to see
what 4t takes to entertain you New
Yorkers. Sena me the most typical
girl show In New York to play two
performances a day in front of our
grandstand as one of the free acts
at our fair. We have $50,000 to spend
for amusements so get us a good one.’*
WHITE SCHOOL DAY
FOR FAIR MONDAY
Atlanta, Ga., September 80.—Sepa
rate "school days” for white and col
ored school pupils will be observed
at the Southeastern Fair this year,
October 2 to 9, as a result of action
by the Atlanta Board of Education at
its sesslop this month. *
The board voted to release all ne
gro pupils from school to attend the
fair on the opening day, Saturday,
October 2, while white pupils will be
released to attend the fair on Mon
day, October 4. Monday has been
"school day” for both races in pre
vious yearß. All school children, high
school and. college students, are ad
mitted to the fair at a special price
of 15 cents on school day upon pre
sentation of a school day ticket sign
ed by the teacher.
The state-wide spelling bee for the
Georgia championship, which will be
broadcast over radio WSB, the radio
station of The Atlanta Journal, #lll
be a children’s day feature.

or $1.50 on each one hundred dollars of property returned , for taxation,
