CAVE SPRING BOY DIES AFTER
BEING STRUCK BY BALL
Rome, Ga., May 17.—Robert Jor
dan, 14-year-old student at Georgia
School for Deaf, at Cave Spring,
died Tuesday morning at a local hos
pital as the result of being struck
in the head by a pitched ball during
a practice game of baseball Monday
afternoon. He sat down on the ground
for a few minutes and apparently re
covered. He re-entered the game and
completed playing his position for
some 30 minutes.
Leaving the playing field with the
others boys, instead of going to the
shower baths, he continued to his
room in the dormitory and lay down,
telling the supervisor that his head
hurt him.
On return from the supper table,
the boy was found unconscious. On
examination no break in the skull
was found, not even a bump on the
side of his head, but he was rushed
to a local hospital. He died without
regaining consciousness.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs.
B. F. Jordan, of Arlington.
TEXANS KILL EACH OTHER
IN DISPUTE OVER BIBLE
Texarkana, Tex., May 12.—An
argument over a sentence in the

Texas.
After engaging in a fist fight in
the Shields home, Preston obtained
a shot gun and after Shields came
from the house with his, they fired,
almost at the same moment.

and when Preston announced his in
tention of shooting, Shields con
sented, saying “fire ahead,” officers
declared. The two men married twin
sisters. Both are fathers of three
children.
