Death Of Mr. E. P. Freeman
We r-grct to chronicle the death
of Mr. E. I\ Freeman, of the Arcade
community, which occurred on Tues
day afternoon. Mr. Freeman was
one of the prominent citizen* of the
county, and had pent a long and
useful life, being 81 year* of age at
the time of hi* death. He was a
member of Lebanon Methodist
church, and always stood for the
things that were for the good of hi*
community and county. He had a
large number of relatives and
friend*, who regret hi* passing away.
Mr. Freeman is survived by hi*
widow, and the following children:
Mis* Alice Freeman and Mr*. Swan,
of this county, and Messrs. Nat Free
man of Atlanta, Ga., and Foster
Freeman of Crouse, N. C.; by one
brother, Mr. H. H. Freeman; and one
sister, Mrs. Lizzie Wills, both of
this county.
The funeral was at Galilee church
on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’-
clock, and interment in the cemetery
at that place.
BROTHERHOOD SOCIAL
The Wesley Brotherhood of the
Methodist church had a most delight
ful social meeting last Friday even
ing. There were 29 present. Mr.
Kizer had prepared a good program.
The High School Orchestra, directed
by Mrs. J. C. Turner, opened the
program with two musical numbers,
which were enjoyed by all present,
and highly complimented by the
visiting speaker.
Mr. Kizer presented the speaker,
Col. Joe Quillian, of Winder. Col.
Quillian is the son of Rev. A. W.
Quillian, now living at Madison, Ga.
His talk was most timely and help
ful. It would have done credit to
a Presiding Elder, and was greatly
enjoyed by all present. Any one
who can talk as well as Col. Quil
lian, ought to talk real often. After
the Colonel’s talk, the Orchestra a
gain favored us with two special
numbers.
Some of our good ladies, Mrs.
Kcsler, Mrs. J. C. Smith, Miss Nixon
Mobley, and possibly others, had
prepared a delightful lunch, which
was enjoyed by the Orchestra, as
well as the Brotherhood, at the con
clusion of the program. It seems
that the Brethren can’t do anything
without the Sisters.
Some of the Brethren knew Col.
Quillian well, and enjoyed the ex
change of jokes at the table.
We all went home, I am sure,
feeling proud of our Orchestra, and
grateful to the good ladies and Mr.
Kizer for such a good time.
We hope the Brotherhood will in
vite the Orchestra and Col. Quillian
to come again.

A SERIES OF DISCOURSES AT
THE METHODIST CHURCH
A delightful, uplifting series of
spiritual messages are being deliver

Sunday evening; Dr. W. H. LaPrade,
Jr., of Gainesville, Monday evening;
Rev. G. W. Barrett, of Commerce,
Tuesday evening; Rev. D. P. John
ston, of Winder, Wednesday even
ing. Each speaker has brought a
wonderful Christian message, help

weekly sermons and personal con- j
