Dr. and Mrs. C. L. Moore of San
Antonia, Tex., and Mr. S. L. Moore,
Jr., of Ft. Wayne, Ind., spent Mon
day night in the city with their
sister, Mrs. H. D. Dadisman, and
Mr. Dadisman. Accompanied by
Mr. and Mrs. Dadisman and baby
son, Dean, they left Tuesday for
Statesboro to visit their parents,

COL. MARTIN ANNOUNCES
Col. W. D. Martin of Commerce
announces in this week’s issue as a
candidate for Representative in the
Legislature from Jackson county.
Col. Martin is Solicitor of the City
Court of Jefferson, which position
he has occupied for the past few
years, and is faithful to the per
formance of his duties. The primary
election occurs on September 14.

LARGE CROWD ENJOYS PARTY
The party given in honor of M,*-
and Mrs. Clinton Gausr, of Flor
ence, S. C., at the beautiful home
of Mr. Gause's brother, was enjoy
jed by a large crowd. After several
' proms, refreshments were served
later in the evening. The Blue
Ridgo Mountain Boys played and
sang many beautiful selections, and
later furnished lovely dance music,
which was highly enjoyed by every

DAMON CAUSE ENTERTAINS
AT PARTY
On last Thursday afternoon, at
the home of Mr. D. A. Cause, a
farewell party was given in honor
of Mr. Damon Cause, who will leave
soon to report for duty in the U. S.
Navy. Music was made by The
Blue Ridge Mt. Boys String Band.
It will be remembered that Damon
is A Blue Ridge Mt. Boy Announcer.
This band is known throughout the
country, and is a promising young
string band. The party was enjoy
ed by a large crowd. And in spite
of the depression, every one left
feeling fine and happy.
HOSTESS TO BRIDGE CLUB
The Thursday Bridge Club was
delightfully entertained last week
by Mrs. Harold Duke, who had as

enjoyed by a large crowd.
This emmunity was shocked to
i hear of the sudden death of Mr.
Dock Holder, on last Friday morn
ing, about 1 o’clock. He was laid
to rest Friday p. m., in Center
Grove cemetery. Mr. Holder had
many friends in this community.
He was a good man, and a good
neighbor. Mr. Holdier leaves a
wife, three children, his mother,
and -a host of other relatives and
friends, to mourn his going. The
people of this community extend
to Mrs. Holder and the children their
sympathy.
