ill for several days and is at the
hospital in Athens. Her friends are
hoping that the illness will soon yield
to the physicians skill and she will

Carson of Commerce were held in
that city Sunday afternoon from the
Presbyterian church, with interment

this week, attending the annual ses
sion of the Medical Association of
Georgia. The session convened Tues
day and will be in session four
days. Dr. W. H. Myers of Savan
nah, who spoke in Jefferson on April
8, is president and will welcome the
delegates. A pumber of eminent
physicians will address the doctors.
Dr. Morris Fishbein will speak at the
annual banquet Thursday night.

ey Bailey will be interested to know
that Mrs. Bailey is recuperating ve
ry satisfactorily from a serious op
eration, performed Thursday at the
hospital in Athens. Mr. Bailey is
an engineer of the State Highway
department and is located in Ath
ens. Mrs. Bailey is the former Miss
Johnnie Ruth Gregory, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Gregory, who
make their home with the Bailey s
in Athens.

Next Sunday will be observed by
Jefferson Methodists as “Laymen s
Day” and Col. Hammond Johnson,
district Lay Leader, will speak to
the congregation at the eleven
o’clock service. Col. Johnson is an
interesting speaker and will bring
to his audience a message that will
be helpful and interesting. All
members of the church should make
an effort to attend the service and
give Col. Johnson a splendid audi
ence. At this same hour Rev. A. B.
Elizer, the pastor, will occupy the
pulpit of the First Methodist church,
Athens, filling an engagement for
Rev. H. C. Holland who is attending
General Conference in Atlantic City,
N. J.

Bryan, Jr., and James Cooley. Young
Mr. Bryan also., won the Scabbard
and Blade, honor given for military
achievement.

Church School Day exercises at the
Methodist church in Commerce Sun
day. Mr. Benton is a former resi
dent of Commerce and we are con
fident his many friends on that side

Assembling a group of bridge
players, Mrs. J. N. Holder entertain
ed at her home Friday afternoon,
the honor guest being Mrs. Henry
B. McDonald of Americus.
The home was brightened with
vases and bowls of spirea, iris and
other spring blossoms. The guest

FLOWER SHOW POSTPONED
Because of the cold weather and
the late-blooming flowers, the date
of the flower show planned for next
Monday has been postponed until
Tuesday afternoon, May 7. All
committees are asked to note the
change of date. The show is spon
sored by the Woman’s Club, but all
growers of flowers are invited to
have exhibits and join with the club
in making the event a success.
