STATE FARMERS’
MARKET OPEN
Georgia’!* new Ktate fanners’ mar
ket at Murphy avenue and Sylvan
road, Atlanta, began operation Mon
day morning.
The new market consists of six
pennanent brick buildings which wib
house wholesalers, and three huge
steel sheds where farmers may bring
their farm products. The market
will serve as a clearing house for
everything grown on Georgia farms
and will be connected by teletype
machines with other markets over the
state to provide close touch with the
supply and demand for all types of
products and prevent shortages, ov
erloading of markets, and serious
price fluctuations.
All available spaces in the six
units—64 in all—have been leased
by wholesalers, and there is a wait
ing for space in new units which are
to be built as soon as the money is
available.
George W. Borders and W. J.
Davenport, two of Jackson county’s
best colored citizens, passed to their
reward last Tuesday.
