Stovall and children of Ila.—Lavonia Times. Friends of Mrs. Elmer Hendrix, formerly of this county, now living in Atlanta, will be interested to know she has returned home from Crawford W. Long Hospital. She is suffering from an abscessed throat and her condition has been serious. XX t t Mrs. George Pierce Clark, mother of Mrs. John J. Harber of Atlanta, formerly of Commerce, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leßoy Fagan, in Fort Valley. She was 81 years of age and throughout her life was a leader in the cultural life of Macon and Marshallville where she had resided. Before marriage she was Miss May Boyd Clisby. tt t t •,Mis Eleanor Hosch, attractive /daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hill Hosch, was recently honored by be ing elected secretary of the student body of Geoigia University Junior College. Miss Hosch was also hon ored by being elected to act as maid of honor to the May Queen in the recent spring pageant.—DeKalb New Era. Friends here of George Pittman of Emory at Oxford will be interest ed to know that he was elected pianist for Phi Gamma Literary So ciety for the next quarter. The election was held last Friday. Pitt man is the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Wood of this city. tt t t Mrs. J. H. Parker, aged 30, the former Miss Geneva Hewitt, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ezekiel Hewitt, was killed in an automobile accident near Aiken, 8. C. Her husband and 2-year-old son were badly injured. They were driving from their home in Charleston, !S. C., to visit their parents in Winder, when the car collided with another car. Funeral services were held at Nazareth Meth odist Church, near Winder. Mr. and Mrs. George Henry Fite, little Martha Pern Fite, of Jefferson; Mrs. H. A. Inglis and two young sons, of Clarkesville; Messrs. Tom Cooley, of Toccoa, and Jim Cooley, of Georgfiia Tech, were Mother’s Day guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. Cooley.—Lawrenceville News-Herald. tt t t Many Jeffersonians were pleased to have in their midst this week Rev. Clyde Dußose, pastor of one of the Presbyterian churches of Richmond, Va. He is a son of the late Rev. S. W. Dußose and Mrs. Dußose, who lived in Jefferson from 1913 to 1918, when Rev. Dußose was pastor of .the Presbyterian church of this city. The Rev. Clyde Dußose came here to visit many friends and see the little city again where he spent some happy childhood hours. tt t t Dr. J. E. Coker, local Presbyterian pastor, has two nephews graduating from 'High School with honors. Floyd Coker of the Consolidated school of New Site. Ala., is Valedic torian of his class. Also received medal for being the best all-round student in school. W’ayne Blue of Lakeview, N. C., has a perfect rec ord of attendance for 11 years. He also receives honors. They visited the Atlanta Constitu tion office, had their pictures made for the paper and were shown the intricacies of printing a newspaper. They then visited Stone Mountain, the state capitol, Grant Park and Candler Airport. Those in the par ty were: Chester Rives, Dorothy Foster, Jean Phillips, Gray Cooper, Annelle Satterfield, Marguerite Jen kins, Myron Gooch, Ralph Howard, Jane Oliver, Professor Dan H. MISS NELL STOCKTON WEDS HARRY PEMBLETON IN MONTGOMERY Montgomery, Ala.—The marriage of Miss Nell Foster Stockton and Harry Pembleton took place at an impressive ceremony yesterday at high noon at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Frank Tripp officiat ing. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Foster Fielding Stockton and the late Mr. Stockton, former editor and publisher of The Anniston Evening Star. She was graduated from Hunt ington College and later studied medical technology at the Harvard graduate school of medicine. Until recently she was laboratory super visor of South Highlands Hospital. Mr. Pembleton is a native of New York.
