State Encampment fo the Baptist
Student Union at Camp Pinnacle.

Julia Stephens dined Sunday with
Mrs. S. N. Maddox.
Mr. and Mrs D. W. Grant had
supper with Mr. and Mrs. Claude A.
Stephens Friday night.
Johnette Maddox celebrated her
birthday Sunday. A nice table was
spread and a crowd was present.
All wish for her many more birth
days.
J. C. Maddox spent the week-end
with Elmer Maddox.

Miss Evelyn Allen, who is now
residing in Charlotte, N. C., was at
home during the past week visiting
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brad Al
len. Also, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Al
len of Atlanta were visitors in this
home.
Miss Charlotte Hawkins had as
Sunday guest Miss Sara Barrett of
Gainesville. Misses Hawkins and
Barrett graduated together from
Gainesville High School in the
spring.
We, again, had the pleasure this
week of seeing and talking with
’’one of our boys,” Pvt. Bill Cook,
who is stationed at Fort Benning,
Columbus. Bill is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Herman Cook of the Mountain
Creek Community.
Mrs. Linnie Bridges oi Weather
ford, Texas, is now in Talmo visit
ing old friends and relatives. This
is Mrs. Bridges first trip to her na
tive state in forty-eight years.
We are all glad to know that Lor
raine Bridges is now ata home and is
steadily regaining her health. Lor
raine recently underwent an appen
dectomy at Downey Hospital,
Gainesville, Ga.
Miss Faye Morgan spent the
week-end in Atlanta visiting friends.
Miss Nelda Aiken of Atlanta was
in Talmo Over the week-end visit
ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J.
Murphy.
Guests in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert McEver on Sunday in
cluded Mr. and Mrs.. Luke Vandiver
of Commerce, Mrs. Rena H. Black
stock and son, Thomas, of Jefferson.
Mr. Ed Hawkins who- is attend
ing George Washington College in
Washington, D. C. was home for a
few days last week visiting his
parents, Mr. and Mrs., R. A. Haw
kins, and sister, Charlotte.
The Talrho Y. W. A ’s met in the
home of Miss Charlotte Hawkins on
Monday night, September 12th.
There were fourteen members pre
sent which included our leader, Mrs.
King Murphy. We were all happy
to have our pastor’s wife, Mrs. Joe
Fulbright, as a visitor. Miss Faye
Morgan presented a most interest
ing program, after which Miss Haw
kins served a delicious cold plate.

Home Coming Day
The annual Homecoming held
here on September 4 was enjoyed
by all present. The program in
cluded a short presentation by the
children of the Sunday School. At
11 o’clock Rev. Robert Allen of
Truett McConnell College preached
in the absence fo Dr. L. C. Cutts.
During the poon hour everyone en
joyed lunch and fellowship. In the
afternoon we were favored with an
inspiring address by Col. G. W.
Westmoreland of Jefferson. Rev.
Jewell Brumbalow and Rev. Arthur
Reynolds spoke briefly. One of the
most enjoyable features of the after
noon was the presentation of sev
eral numbers by Victory Four Quar
tette and Brewer Trio.
Missionary Society
The W. M. S. met at the home
of Mrs. H. A. Langford Saturday
afternoon for the regular meeting.
After a brief business session, the
program chairman presented a very
interesting program on "Christ the
Answer to Atheistic Communism.”
Twelve members were present.
