Sex offenders list available on GBI website: www.ganet.org/gbi
THE GEORGIA Bureau of
Investigation maintains a list of
registered sex offenders on its
website (www.ganet.org/gbi).
The GBI is the central reposi
tory for Georgia’s Violent Sexual
Offender Registry. The registry
contains information about sex
offenders who have been released
from prison, placed on probation,
parole or supervised released after
July 1, 1996.
The website contains a search
form where offenders may be
located based on name, city, zip
code or county.
For each offender, the website
details the offender’s address,
physical description, age, date of
conviction and crime. Most of the
offenders also have photos avail
able.
By state law, a sex offender
will be notified by the Georgia
Department of Corrections, the
Georgia Board of Pardons &
Paroles, and/or private probation
agencies that they must register as
a sex offender with a sheriff and
their county of residence, county
of employment and county where
they are attending school.
Sexual offenders will remain on
the registry for a period of 10 years
and will receive a verification form
each year on the anniversary of
their initial registration. Sexual
predators are required to verify
their information every 90 days
and remain on the registry for life.
As of July 1, 1999, sexual
offenders who have more than one
prior conviction for an offense
listed by state law - or who have
been convicted of an aggravated
offense, such as aggravated child
