Vandalism reported at church during last week
Sex offender list released by Sheriff’s Office
OCONEE BAPTIST Church,
located on Hwy. 82, was damaged
by vandals last week, according
to an incident report filed at the
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The vandals kicked in two doors,
broke a window, forced open the
office door, ransacked files and
damaged several doors.
Other incidents reported to the
sheriffs office last week were:

at a Jefferson River Road loca
tion.
•domestic dispute at a Scott
Road, Athens, residence.
•three rifles and other items
taken from a Gum Springs School
Road, Jefferson, residence.
•harassing phone calls at a

•burglary at a Rapids Drive,
Bogart, residence.
•dogs killed a rooster at a
Yarbrough Ridgeway Road,
Maysville, address.
•domestic dispute and bat
tery at an Erastus Church Road,
Commerce, residence.
•domestic dispute at a Fuller
Road, Athens, residence.
•trespassing at a Hwy. 82,
Maysville, location.
•liquor taken from a vehicle

Arcade warns residents of scam
THE ARCADE Police Department
has issued a warning to its citizens
of a possible scam being operated in
the area.
A couple of people in a large
white pickup truck been reported
in the area soliciting home repairs
and maintenance work. According to
reports, these people offer to seal a
driveway for a certain price, and then
will increase the price after the work
has been done.
According to the Arcade Police
Department, one of the names being
used by the people is “Stanley’s,”
however, other names may be used.
“The warm weather is here and gen
erally crime picks up as the weather
continues getting nicer,” reports Sgt.
Greg Maddox. “We, at the Arcade
Police Department, strive to keep
Arcade one of the safest places to live
in Georgia.”
Anyone contacted by these individ
uals is asked to call 911 or the Arcade
Police Department at 706-367-8972.
