CHAPMAN MEETS WITH GOV. PERDUE
Chris Chapman, Jefferson, president of the Georgia Chapter of the American Fence
Association, which represents 80 fence businesses in the state, recently met with
Gov. Sonny Perdue. Pictured are: chapter vice president Bruce Mayfield, Cassandra
Mayfield, Gov. Perdue, Kim Chapman and Chris Chapman. The association is
working with the state on licensing for fence contractors and gate operator install
ers. Chapman has been in the fence business for 21 years with Chapman Fence
Company, and is a certified fence professional with the AFA and a certified gate
operator installer with the International Door Association.
SNAP FITNESS HOLDS RIBBON-CUTTING
Snap Fitness, located at 914 Lee Street, Jefferson, held a ribbon-cutting Friday, Oct.
17. The 24-hour fitness center is owned by Fred Barber and offers cardio equip
ment, strength-training machines, free weights, “Snap Cinema” entertainment and

Craft fair planned Saturday to benefit ACS Benefit fishin S tourne y P lanned for Cob y Hendricks
THE BEREA Baptist Church
Relay for Life Team will sponsor
its third craft fair Saturday, Nov.
8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is being held to
benefit the American Cancer
Society.
There will be local and state
artists with oils, acrylics, water-
colors and drawings. Arts and
crafts such as lighted bottles,
handmade knives, woodcrafts,
sewing projects, pottery, floral
designs, custom jewelry and
photography will be featured.
The “Berea Cookers” will
have homemade soups, chili,
combread and baked goods.
Santa Claus will be available
from 10 am. to 2 p.m.
The fair will be held in the
historic Wilson Jr. High School,
which is now the church com
munity center.
The school is located on Hwy.
334, off Hwy. 441, south of
Commerce.
A BENEFIT fishing tourna
ment for Coby Hendricks will
be held Sunday, Nov. 9, at
Lake Russell at the Shuck Pen
Eddy Ramp.
Coby, who is 5-years-old,
was recently diagnosed with
leukemia. He is the son of
Jeff and Melody Hendricks
and the grandson of Jerry and
Kathy Hendricks.
The entry fee is $80. Thirty
percent of all entry fees will
be donated to Coby and his
family for medical expenses.
There will be a five-fish limit
and all state rules will apply.

8; noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday,
Nov. 9; midnight to 6 a.m.

Combat training at Fort Sill,
Lawton, Okla.

a 2006 graduate of Jackson
County Comprehensive
High School.

training, the soldier stud
ied the Army mission and
received instruction and
training exercises in drill

ditions, military courtesy,
military justice, physi
cal fitness, first aid, rifle
marksmanship, weapons
use, map reading and land
navigation, foot marches,
armed and unarmed com
bat and field maneuvers and

benefit for Elaine Baker,
who has lung cancer, will
be held from noon to 4 p.m.
on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the
Baptist Tabernacle, located
on Hwy. 441, three miles
south of Commerce.
The plates will be $8 each.
There will also be a cake
walk.
On Sunday, the church will
hold a benefit singing featur
ing The Resurrections. It will
be held from 4-6 p.m.
