The Jackson Herald goes on vacation....
BROWNIES PARTICIPATE IN CAMP-OUT
Girl ScoutTroop 11943 recently participated in its first camp-out at Sandy Creek Park,
Athens. Some of the activities included a flash light evening hike, making smores
and tie-dyeing T-shirts. The troop will be supporting the “Alex’s lemonade stand” at
the Jefferson Elementary School festival on Saturday, Nov. 8 to benefit childhood
cancer research. The members of the troop are as follows: Haley Bartoletta, Lauren
Cochran, Estefania Cook, Maddie Daniel, Breanna Gaba, Jessica Jacobs, Lauren
Kelley, Lindsey Kelley, Sophia Lamar, Caroline Martin, Katherine McCartney, Aubrey
Mitchell, Mary-Catherine Price, Ellen Schaeffer, Mary Schaeffer, Alaina Sneed, Taylor
Sorrow and Micayla Stopher. They took along The Jackson Herald.

IN ALASKA
Chuck and Lynn Anthony, Jefferson, and Myron and Jerry Ann Ingram, Commerce,
took a Pacific Northwest tour the last two weeks of August. They visited Yellowstone,
the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. The are pictured with The Jackson Herald in
Ketchikan, Alaska.

VISITING THE ACROPOLIS
The Jackson Herald accompanied Bill and Mary Berkowsky of Jefferson on
a Mediterranean Cruise, which started in Barcelona, Spain. First port was
Marseille, France, where the Avignon Palace was visited. Next was the port
of Livorno, Italy, where they visited Florence and Pisa. Next was the port of
Civitavecchia, where they visited Rome, St. Peter’s Basilica, the forum, St.
Peter in Chains Basilica, and the Coliseum. Next was Naples, Italy and Pompeii,
then on to Mykonos, Greece (playground of the rich and famous). Next stop,
Istanbul, Turkey, and the Topkapi Palace, the next port was Kusadasi, Turkey, to
see Ephesus. Athens, Greece was next, with a visit to Acropolis (pictured), the
Parthenon and the Corinth Canal. The tour ended in Venice, Italy, where they
visited the Doge’s Palace, St. Marks square, a Murano glass blowing factory
and the canals of Venice. The vacation was from Aug. 27 to Sept. 9, with many
airports visited, also
