BRIDGES HONORED

PARENTS RECEIVE INFORMATION
Over 50 Kings Bridge Middle School families participated in the joint effort of Kings
Bridge Middle School and East Jackson Comprehensive High School at the 8 th Grade
Curriculum Information Reception on November 18. Parents received information
from administration and teachers on expectations for the milestone transition year
as 8 th graders prepare for high school.

JHS AFJROTC CADETS

AFJROTC places third at Southeast Regionals
COLOR GUARD PLACES THIRD
The Jefferson High School AFJROTC color guard
team including Matthew Tillman, Lance Wilson, Miguel
Rodriguez and Brian Herron took third place at the Air
Force Southeast Regional Drill Meet.
The drill and color guard
teams from Jefferson High
School competed in the
Southeast Regional Drill
Championships on November
15 at Tift County High School
and came home with a third
place in the armed color guard
competition and fifth place in
the unarmed drill competi
tion.
Although Jefferson was
competing at this meet for
the first time, the cadets of
the Dragon group did not let
it affect their performance.
They also were the smallest
school competing at the meet
with most of the teams from
AAAA and AAAAA high
schools.
“The cadets were deter
mined to leave this meet with
some hardware and that’s
what they done,” stated Chief
Master Sergeant Budell Willis,
team coach.
The color guard team of
Matthew Tillman, Lance
Wilson, Miguel Rodriguez
and Brian Herron took on 22
other teams and took third
place.
The drill team of Gorge
Rodriguez, Emily Mitchell,
Miranda Bellew, Timmy
Warren, Andre Gonzales,
Lance Wilson, Matthew
Tillman, Clay Gooch, Ryan
Fletcher, Amber Simerly,
Brian Herron, Hannah Botts
and Miguel Rodriguez took
the fifth Place.
The regional meet had the
best teams from Georgia,
Northern Florida and South
Carolina competing for the
opportunity to show the
Air Force National Drill
Competition officials that they
had what it takes to compete
at the Air Force Nationals.
After a strong showing
at the Houston County and
Ridgeland meets over the past
month, Jefferson was poised
to make a strong showing at
this regional meet.
Senior Master Sergeant
Darrell Purvis of Tift County
High School (2008 State
Champions), stated, “Looks
like we've got another team
to be concerned with at these
meets now.” The Dragon
group has now finished up
the year on a strong note and
looks forward to the 2009
meets that are coming up
in the spring, including the
state championships and pos
sibly the Air Force National
Championships.

For the project known as:
JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
LIPSCOMB LAKE ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
Proposals will be opened and read aloud at 67 Athens St., Manager’s Conference Room,
Jefferson, Georgia 30549 at 11:00 A.M. EST. Proposals received after the designated time will
not be considered. The OWNER of the project is the Jackson County Board of Commissioners.
The Engineer for the project is Jackson County Department of Engineering - Capital
Project Management Division. Plans were prepared by J. B. Trimble, Inc.
The approximate extent and character of the Work is generally described as follows:
Removal of an existing one-lane wooden bridge, including substructure and
construction of a new two-lane bridge with concrete deck and parapet on Lipscomb
Lake Road over Pond Fork Creek.
Bidders shall inform themselves concerning Georgia Laws and comply with same.
Bidding Documents will be available for review and purchase by prospective Bidders at the
Jackson County Purchasing Department, located at 67 Athens St., Room 204,
Jefferson, Georgia 30549, Telephone Number: 706-367-6309. Questions regarding the bid
process should be directed to this same office. Questions regarding the plans or specifications
should be directed to Don Clerici, Consultant Capital Projects Manager, at 706-387-6436 or
dclerici@jacksoncountygov.com.
Bidding Documents may be obtained upon payment of $25, non-refundable. All Bids must be
on the BID PROPOSAL UNIT PRICE FORM furnished with the Plans and Contract documents.
Any deviation from the bid proposal or the construction drawings must be explained on a
separate sheet of paper and attached to the bid proposal.
The time allowed for Completion is 150 days from the date of the Notice to Proceed.
Each Bid must be accompanied by a Bid Bond with good and sufficient surety or sureties
approved by the owner for faithful acceptance of the contract. Payable to, in favor of, and for
the protection of the OWNER in an amount equivalent to five percent (5%) of the total amount
payable by the terms of the contract or, in lieu thereof, in the form of a certified check,
cashier’s check, or cash in equal mount.
The Successful Bidder will be required to furnish performance and payment bonds, for 100%
of the contract amount, with the executed Agreement meeting the requirements of the Contract
Documents and executed on the forms attached to the Agreement. The terms and time for
payment are set forth in the Agreement.
Surety and insurance companies must have an AM Best rating of A-6 or greater, be listed in
the Federal Registry of Companies holding Certificates of Authority and Acceptable Sureties on
Federal Bonds, be licensed by the Georgia Insurance Department and the Georgia Secretary of
State to do business in the State of Georgia.
Requests for payments are due by the Fifth (5 th ) of the month for the payment by the
Twentieth (20 Ih ) of the month less 10% retainage. Retainage will be held until final acceptance
of the project by Jackson County.
All Bids will remain subject to acceptance for 60 days after the day of the Bid opening, but
OWNER may, in its sole discretion, release any Bid and return the Bid security prior to that
date.
Each bid must be submitted in a SEALED ENVELOPE, addressed to the OWNER. Each
sealed envelope containing a Bid must be plainly marked on the outside as, “Lipscomb Lake
Road Bridge Replacement.” If bid is forwarded by mail, the sealed envelope containing the
Bid must be enclosed in a separate mailing envelope to the attention of the OWNER at the
address previously given.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, to waive formalities and re-advertise.
