LESSON ON GENETICS
Lori Cato’s fifth grade students at North Jackson Elementary School have been
learning about genetics and learned behaviors. Christopher Hansen shared his dog
Bailey’s learned behaviors. Bailey could sit and jump on command.
‘MAGGIE’ VISITS NJES
Lori Cato’s fifth grade class at North Jackson Elementary School has been learning
about learned behaviors. Students were invited to bring in their pets that had been
taught tricks. Lori Cato’s dog, Maggie, visited the class to show how she could sit,
high-five, shake, and fetch.

PROVIDE CHRISTMAS GIFTS
The Jackson County Comprehensive High School FCCLA (Family, Career and
Community Leaders of America) provided Christmas gifts for four area foster chil
dren. Preparing the gifts for delivery are students Mayra Gomez, Nastassja Samuels,
Brittany Thompson, Ashley Allen, Brittany Aikens, Shannon Townsend, Emily Whitt
and Jenny Tolbert.
STUDENT WRITERS RECOGNIZED
Garrett Ford, a kindergartner in Brownwyn Sheffield’s class at West Jackson Primary
School, was selected as an outstanding writer in his classroom. He is shown reading
his piece with principal, Denny Turner. He attended the first quarter Writer’s Tea. One
girl and one boy per classroom were chosen. They read their writing in front of their
peers and also enjoyed some snacks.
