Obituary
Beverly Follis
Beverly Follis, 65, of
Pendergrass, died Saturday,
December 20, 2008.
Bom on July 5, 1943, in
DeKalb County, she was the
daughter of the late Andrew
Buren and Alice Pauline Lyons
Fuller. She had worked for
Oxford Industries in Monroe,
where she was in accounts pay
able and receivable. She was
Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter,
Sherron Follis, Lawrenceville;
sister and brother-in-law, Olene
and John Kelley, Jefferson;
niece, Lynn Johnson, Hamilton,
Ohio; and several cousins in
Cleveland.
A private family memorial
service will be held at a later
date.

‘Russ’ Colombo
Wando Louis “Russ”
Colombo, 91, of Jefferson,
died Wednesday, December 17,
2008.
Born on
June 6, 1917,
in New
Hampshire, he
was the son of
the late Batista
and Lisa
Colombo. He
was a former
Superintendent of the Jefferson
City School System and was the
former Principal of the Lithonia
Community Schools. He was a
veteran, having served during
World War II.
Survivors include his wife,
Clarice Dekle Colombo,
Jefferson; and a daughter,
Claire Colombo, Athens.
Graveside services will be
held Sunday, December 28, at
2 p.m., in the Ochlochnee City
Cemetery in Ochlochnee with
Dr. Robert Ackerman officiat
ing.
Memorial contributions may
be made to the Jefferson Public
Library, 379 Old Pendergrass
Rd., Jefferson, Ga. 30549.

‘Dumpy’ Cruce
Johnny J. “Dumpy” Cruce, 59,
of Maysville, died Wednesday,
December 17, 2008.
Born in Jackson County, he
was the son of the late Thomas
Alvin and Doris Gaynelle
Shelton Cruce. He was a main
tenance worker with Vulcan
Materials Rock Quarry.
Survivors
include his
wife, Teresa
Cruce, Mays
ville; sons
and daughter-
in-law, Gary
Cruce, Chad
and Casey
Cruce and Marty Cruce, all
of Maysville; sisters, Mary
Ledford, Homer, Lonie
Pressley and Dora Griffin, both
of Jefferson; brother, Jesse
Cruce, Maysville; and grand
children, Caden Cruce and
Hailey Cruce.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, December 20, in the
chapel of Evans Funeral Home
with the Rev. Winfred Bingham
officiating. Burial was in the
Walnut Fork Baptist Church
cemetery.

‘Tommy’ Martin
Thomas “Tommy” Andrew
Martin, 55, of Gainesville, died
Thursday, December 18, 2008,
at Lanier Park Hospital, follow
ing a sudden illness.
Born on February 6, 1953, he
was the son of Connice Jenkins
Martin of Hall County and the
late Thomas Roy.
Mr. Martin was the brother
of Janna and Marty Manculich
of Jefferson.
Funeral services were held
Saturday, December 20, in
the chapel of Memorial Park
Funeral Home with the Rev.
Phil Carpenter officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Park
Cemetery.

Todd Booth
Jeffrey Todd Booth, 45,
of Nicholson, died Saturday,
December 20, 2008, at St.
Mary’s Hospital in Athens.
Born in Jackson County,
he was the son of Bobby
and Peggy Adams Booth of
Nicholson. He was the owner
of Auto Paint Specialty and
was preceded in death by a
daughter. Savannah Lauren
Booth.
Survivors include his
wife, Rhonda Nelms Booth,
Nicholson; son, Trevor Booth,
Nicholson; brothers, Tracy
Booth, Commerce, and Tim
Booth, Jefferson; and a sister,
Tammy Standridge, Nicholson.
Funeral services were held
Tuesday, December 23, at New
Hope Baptist Church with the
Rev. Mike Stowers officiating.
Burial was in the Nicholson
Cemetery.

George Keith
George M. Keith, 65,
of Hoschton, died Friday,
December 19, 2008.
A native of Forsyth County,
he was the son of the late J. L.
and Mary Gunter Keith. He was
preceded in death by a brother,
James Keith and was a retiree
of Lawson Heating and Air
Conditioning of Gainesville.
Mr. Keith was Baptist.
Survivors include his wife,
Carol Brewer Keith; daughter,
Sherri Dunn; grandson, Shawn
Dunn; and brother, Robert
Keith, all of Winder: sisters,
Nell Sellers, Moultrie, Tammy
Martin, Texas, and Betty
Wilkerson, Winder.
Funeral services were held
Sunday, December 21, from the
Chapel of Carter Funeral Home
with the Rev. Jerry Flanigan
officiating. Burial was in
Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Harper
Agnes Elizabeth Harper,
77, of Jefferson, formerly
of Charleston, W.Va., died
Wednesday, December 17,
2008.
Born on
February 4,
1931, she was
the daughter of
the late Joseph
and Ada-Lee
Senters. She
was a mother and housewife,
and was Baptist. Mrs. Harper
was preceded in death by her
husband, Herbert Henry Harper;
and children, Betty Jo McCune
and Bobby Joe Harper.
Survivors include daugh
ters and son-in-law, Wanda
Warring, Florida, Janet
Eggleton, Charleston, W.Va.,
and Patricia and Joseph Foster,
Jefferson; son and daughter-in-
law, George and Joy Harper,
Winder; and step-son, Roger
Wilson, Elknew, W.Va.; sis
ter, Frances D. Senters, West
Virginia; sister-in-law, Dollie
Steele, Hartwell; brother-in-
law, Roy Harper, Hartwell;
grandchildren, Deneika and
Bill Reynolds, Oswego, N.Y.,
Robert and Rachel Eggleton
and Samantha Hurley, both of
West Virginia, Gary and Terri

held in West Virginia at Hafer
Funeral Home Chapel in
Elknew, W.Va., with the Rev.
Ken Brewer officiating. Burial
will follow in Harper Cemetery,
Frame, W.Va.

Larry Hubbard
Larry Hubbard, 64, of
Maysville, died Tuesday,
December 16, 2008, at
Northeast Georgia Medical
Center in Gainesville.
Born in Jackson County,
he was the son of the late
Bennie and Katie Mae Ward
Hubbard. He was a member of
Ridgeway Baptist Church and
was employed as a styrofoam
molder.
Survivors include his wife,
Janice Faulkner Hubbard,
Maysville; a son, Tim
Hubbard, Maysville; daughter,
Kim Mabry, Homer; brother,
Curtis Hubbard, Oakwood; and
grandchildren, Cade Hubbard,
Emmett Mabry and Camden
Mabry.
Funeral services were held
Friday, December 19, at the
Homer United Methodist
Church with the Revs. Jim
McLendon and Mike Faulkner
officiating. Burial was in
Jackson Memorial Gardens.

Frances Austin
Frances Veal Austin, 68,
of Commerce, died Monday,
December 22, 2008.
Born in Banks County, she
was the daughter of the late
Newt and Lucille Jacks Veal.
She was a member of Rogers
Baptist Church and was retired
from the textile industry. She
was a loving and caring wife,
mother and grandmother, loved
ones stated.
Survivors include her hus
band, Robert Lee Austin Sr.,;
sons and daughter-in-law,
David “Buck” and Angie
Garrett, and Robert Lee Austin
Jr., all of Commerce; daughter
and son-in-law, Deb and Terry
Berryman, Braselton; sister and
brother-in-law, Mildred and
Wallace Smith, North Carolina;
granddaughter. Tiffany Bowen;
great-grandsons, Trey Garrett
and Bryce Bowen, both of
Commerce; and several neph
ews and nieces.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, December 24,
in the chapel of Little-Ward
Funeral Home with the Revs.
