Lois Skelton
Bertha Lois Phillips Skelton,
80, of Jefferson, died Sunday,
December 28, 2008.
Bom on December 25,1928,
in Jackson
County,
she was the
daughter of
the late J.H.
and Fannie
Phillips. She
was a home
maker, farmer
and retired florist. She was a
member of the Faith Baptist
Church. Mrs. Skelton was pre
ceded in death by six brothers
and sisters.
Survivors include her hus
band, J.W. Skelton, Jefferson;
a son, Dennis Skelton,
Charlotte, N.C.; daughter,
Diane Rice, Jefferson; grand
children, Scott Wilkes and
Keith Wilkes; great-grand
children, Flunter, Taylor and
Bailey Wilkes.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday, December 31, in
the chapel of Evans Funeral
Home with the Rev. Eric
Skelton officiating. Burial
was in the Jackson Memorial
Park Cemetery. Pallbearers
were Donald Phillips, Robert
Phillips, Ricky Bryant, Howard
Skelton, Mike Hensley and
Eric Reynolds.

Leon Garrett, 40, of
Commerce, died suddenly on
Saturday, December 27, 2008,
at his residence.
Bom in Habersham County,
he was the son of Betty Frady
Garret of Commerce and the
late Charles Edward Garrett.
He was also preceded in death
by a brother, Roger Edward
Garrett.
Survivors in addition to his
mother, include a son, Joseph
Lee Garrett, Commerce;
brother, Edward Garrett,
Commerce; sisters, Linda
Cowart, Nicholson, and Mary
Gary, Maysville; one nephew;
and six nieces.

Monday, December 29, in the
chapel of Ivie Funeral Home,
after which the body will be
cremated.

David Glenn Davis, 54,
of Jefferson, died Friday,
December 26, 2008.
Bom in Atlanta, he was the
son of the Edna Beatrice Davis
of Monroe and the late Samuel
Davis. He was a truck driver
with Davis Delivery Service,
and was preceded in death
by a brother, Gary Randall
Davis.

his mother include his wife,
Donna Thompson Davis,
Jefferson; son and daughter-in-
law, Calvin and Shauna Davis,
Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchil
dren, Alden and Brody Davis,

den illness.

Anthony. She
was a dedi
cated care
taker of her mother and will
always be remembered for her
love of flowers and animals,
especially her three dogs,
Georgia, Peanut and Cody.
Mrs. Giddens was preceded
in death by a sister, Kathy
Anthony Hill.

Queen, Caleb Queen and

Ross Early. He was a vet
eran of the United States Navy
serving in WWII. In addition
to his parents, Mr. Early was
preceded in death by a brother,

his wife of 61 years, Mary
