Area students honored at UGA
THE UNIVERSITY of
Georgia has named several
local students as either presi
dential scholars or dean’s list
students for fall semester.
The presidential scholar
designation recognizes under
graduate students who have
earned a perfect 4.0 grade
point average during the
semester.
Students named to the
dean's list have earned a 3.5
G.RA. or higher out of a pos
sible 4.0.
Both designations require
that students take at least 14
credit hours and receive no
unsatisfactory or incomplete
grades.
Those named presidential
scholars are: Jason Gordon

a senior in arts and scienc

JCCHS BAND STUDENTS HONORED
Fifteen band students from Jackson County
Comprehensive High School have been selected to per
form with the Reinhardt College Honor Band. They are:

The Reinhardt Honor
Band will be conducted by
Dr. Tom Fraschillo, former
director of bands and pro
fessor of music at Southern
Mississippi University. The
band will rehearse and per
form on the Reinhardt cam
pus in Waleska February
6-7.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ‘MINI-CONFERENCE’
The Jackson County School System recently held a middle school “mini-confer
ence” for teachers and other faculty members at Kings Bridge Middle School.
Administrators and school system members gave a multitude of presentations
designed to improve student comprehension and abilities. Among the topics pre
sented were differentiation for the classroom, standards-based report cards and
using math manipulatives in the classroom. Coordination of the event was handled
by the school system administration. Deborah Morris is the principal at Kings Bridge
Middle School, Heidi Hill is the principal at East Jackson Middle School, and Rise’
Hawley is the principal at West Jackson Middle School. Janet Davis is shown during
a differentiation presentation during the “mini-conference.”
COLLECT 100 CANS FOR 100 th DAY
Students in Carol McDonald’s kindergarten class at Jefferson Elementary School
collected over 100 cans to help celebrate the 100th day of school and to show gen
