KINDERGARTEN WRITING WINNERS
Students at East Jackson Elementary School recently
entered their best writing samples in the Young Georgia
Author’s Contest. Winners were selected for each
grade level. The first place winning writing piece at
each grade level advanced to the district writing com
petition as well. Kindergarten winners were: Jazmine
Huff, first place; Camryn Martin, second place; and
Rylee Minish, third place.

Chandler, first place; Rowdy Jackson, second place;
and Matthew Cheatham, third place.
THIRD GRADE WRITING WINNERS
Students at East Jackson Elementary School recently

Author’s Contest. Winners were selected for each
grade level. The first place winning writing piece at
each grade level advanced to the district writing com
petition as well. Third grade winners were: Mary Hollis,
first place; Ashtyn Dowdy, second place; and Aubrey
Green, third place.
FOURTH GRADE WRITING WINNERS
Students at East Jackson Elementary School recently
entered their best writing samples in the Young Georgia
Author’s Contest. Winners were selected for each
grade level. The first place winning writing piece at
each grade level advanced to the district writing com
petition as well. Fourth grade winners were: Conner
Beauchamp, first place; Bridget McMillan, second place;
Marley Palmer, third place; and Lindsey Tolbert, honor
able mention.
FIFTH GRADE WRITING WINNERS
Students at East Jackson Elementary School recently
entered their best writing samples in the Young Georgia
Author’s Contest. Winners were selected for each grade
level. The first place winning writing piece at each
grade level advanced to the district writing competition
as well. Fifth grade winners were: Kelsey Edenfield, first
place; Oscar Pena, second place; Zac Waldrip, third
place; and Mark Kelley, honorable mention.
ARTWORK SELECTED
Aaron Edwards, an art student at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School, and his teacher, Crystal
Colley, have paintings which were selected for inclu
sion in the North Georgia College & State University
annual exhibition, Art from Georgia Schools.
PTO/FAMILY NIGHT AT BENTON
Benton Elementary School recently held a PTO/ Family
Movie night. Families were invited to watch a movie,
have concessions, and write down suggestions for
PTO. At the end of the night, there was a drawing for
the Mad Scientist birthday party kit. The winner of the
drawing was Flor Garcia.
NORDMAN RECOGNIZED
Olivia Nordman, a student at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School, has been honored for
her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s
Volunteer Service Award. This award is sponsored by
Prudential Financial in partnership with the National
Association of Secondary School Principals. The
Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program recog
nizes young people across American for outstanding
community service activities.
