BRAMBLETT NAMED TO
ALL STATE BAND
Stephen Bramblett,
Maysville, an eighth grade
band student from East
Jackson Middle School,
was recently selected for
the 2009 Georgia Music
Educators Association
(GMEA) Middle School
All State Band. “Special
congratulations go to this
young man,” said EJMS
band director David Van
Buren. “Stephen success
fully passed two very
competitive auditions and
will represent our commu
nity at the All State Band
weekend, held March 5-7
in Savannah, Ga.” Two
hundred students from
across the state were
selected to participate in
the event. Bramblett was
also selected for All State
Band last year.
SJES plans
5K to benefit
Cystic Fibrosis
SOUTH JACKSON
Elementary School will hold a
5K beginning at 3 p.m. March
7 to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis
Foundation.
The cost is $13 if a registra
tion form is completed prior
to Feb. 28, and will be $16 on
race day.
All runners/walkers will
receive a race T-shirt and
“goodies.”

NJES PRE-K LEARNS ABOUT AUSTRALIA
April Stephenson’s and Mary Ludeman’s North Jackson Elementary School Pre-K
class visited Outback Steakhouse in Commerce, as the class has been learning
about Australia. The staff taught the children how to order a meal and how the meal
is prepared before it comes to the table.

BENTON STUDENTS HONORED
Students from Benton Elementary School were recognized as “positively GLO-ing”.
These students made 4’s in all five areas following General Learner Outcomes: the
ability to be responsible for one’s own learning, the understanding that it’s essential
for human beings to work together, the ability to demonstrate critical thinking and
problem solving, the ability to recognize and produce quality performance and qual
ity products, and the ability to communicate effectively. Principal Pam Shields
boasted “This is quite an accomplishment and we are very proud of these students.”

EJCHS STUDENTS PLACE IN REGION EVENT
The East Jackson Comprehensive High School CSA
students recently participated in the Region 3 competi
tion in Gainesville. Shown are (L-R, first row): Jennifer

Scott, fourth place, communication skills; Jessica
Jones, fifth place, mathematical concepts; and Amanda
Adams, first place, healthcare science technology;

presentation; and Diana Hurst, first place, childcare
development; and (fourth row) Cameron Ray, third

place, creative problem solving. Students placing first,
second and third will represent EJCHS at the Georgia
Career Student Association Conference in April at
Jekyll Island. Chris Edwards is the EJCSA advisor.
LYLE PLACES FIRST
David Lyle won first place in the district American
Legion Oratorical Competition. David is a student at
Jackson County Comprehensive High School and he is
pictured with his history teacher, Alan Kennedy.
