of safety belt violation, no proof of insur
ance and vehicle registration violation
were dismissed.
•Nicholas A. Stephens, hunting deer at
night, hunting from a vehicle and hunt
ing from a public road, $981 fine and
probation.
•Christopher Thomason, public inde
cency, $1,000 fine and probation.
•Adan Torres-Onofre, driving without
a license and operation of a vehicle with
a cracked windshield, $846 fine.
•Wuilfrido Ray Venegas-Zanchez,
driving without a license and failure to
maintain lane, $846 fine.
•Dana Alisha Whitlock, disorderly
conduct, $300 fine.
•Eugene Bernard Williams, speeding

maintain lane was dismissed.

tion. A charge of driving while license
suspended was dismissed.
•Guadalupe Elias-Dimas, speeding and
suspended vehicle registration, $664 fine.
A charge of safety belt violation was
dismissed.
•Andrew Clayton Entreki, driving
while license suspended, $200 fine and
probation. A charge of no proof of insur
ance was dismissed.
•Marland Dwight Fearrington, reckless
conduct, $500 fine. A charge of simple
battery was dismissed.

cle (reduced to operating defective equip
ment), $500 fine. A charge of simple
battery was dismissed.
•Mackenzie Raderian Gillespie, pos

assault (reduced to disorderly conduct),

required was dismissed.

Charges of obstruction and speeding
were dismissed.

Dirt bike wreck kills man
Woman charged with burglary

Stiwinter, 24, Maysville, was
killed in a dirt bike accident
on Plainview Road Friday
around 7:50 p.m.
The state patrol said
Stiwinter’s Yamaha YZ250
dirt bike collided with a
Mercury Mountaineer driv
en by Kelly Jean Green, 24,
Braselton, as Green made a
left turn onto Plainview Road
off of Sagefield Circle.
The report states Stiwinter
was operating the motorcycle
without headlights. Green
stopped at the stop sign on
Sagefield Circle and did not
see the approaching motor
cycle. Green made a left turn
onto Plainview Road and the
motorcycle traveling east on
Plainview Road struck the
Mountaineer in the passenger
side. Stiwinter was ejected
from the motorcycle. The
report states Green swerved
into the east bound lane of
Plainview Road to avoid
striking Stiwinter.
Stiwinter was a 2003
graduate of Jackson County
Comprehensive High
School.

A JEFFERSON woman was
arrested on burglary charges
related to the home invasion at
an elderly couple's residence.
Sabrina Renee Damons,
35, 417 Magnolia Avenue,
was arrested by the Jefferson
Police Department shortly
after the home invasion at
a Lawrenceville Street resi
dence.
The female victim said the
doorbell rang at their home
and, when she answered it, a
woman shoved her and forced
her way into the home. She
said the woman yelled, “Give
me your money or I will kill
you. I need $50."
The male victim said the
woman searched his pants
pockets looking for money but
did not find any. The couple
said they told the woman that
they did not have any cash.
The couple said they were
very scared and feared for
their lives.
The woman then left the res
idence. The police department
received information later on
her whereabouts and found

victims identified a photo
taken of her as the woman
who came into their home.
On the same day, a simi
lar incident was reported by
an elderly woman on Martin
Street. This victim said that
a woman came to her door
and tried to get inside to get
money. The woman said she
did not let the woman into her
home.

week that their purses were
stolen from county property,
according to incident reports
filed at the Jackson County
Sheriff's Office.
One woman reported that
her purse was stolen while she
was at the health department
in Jefferson.
Another woman reported
that her purse was taken from
a vehicle parked at the county
courthouse.
Other incidents reported to
the sheriff's office last week

Traffic incidents reported
STATE TROOPERS from
the Athens Post of the Georgia
State Patrol investigated 18
traffic crashes during the
month of February in Jackson
County. The traffic crashes
resulted in 20 injuries and
three traffic deaths.
Troopers from Post 32 also
issued 82 traffic citations in the
county during the month. The
total includes two arrests for
driving under the influence, 53
citations for speeding and five
seat-belt violations. Troopers
also issued 91 warnings.

PUBLIC NOTICE
DESTRUCTION OF RECORDS OF DISABLED STUDENTS
The Jackson County School System, Department of Special Education,
announces its intention to destroy specific data. Records will be destroyed
that were collected, maintained, or used in provision of a free appropriate
public education for disabled students in Jackson County Schools. This
notice is in compliance with the system's comprehensive plan for special
education required by IDEA 2004.
Records on students who enrolled in a special education program for the
disabled and whose birthdays are between 06/02/82 and 06/01/83 are no
longer needed for educational purposes. These records may be needed by
the student or parents for Social Security or other reasons. The system
plans to destroy these records on April 01, 2009, unless there has been a
request for a due process hearing, under IDEA 2004 or a complaint filed
with the Office of Civil Rights.
If you, as the student or parents of the student, desire copies of these
records prior to destruction, contact the office of Special Education at (706)
367-5151. You will be required to produce identification or provide
verification data.
