Local students make
Georgia All-State Band
SIX LOCAL band students
have been selected to perform
with the 2009 Georgia All-
State Band.
Earning membership in All-
State Band is the highest honor
available for band students
in the state. Approximately
10,000 students began the
audition process in 13 sepa
rate district auditions. Those
who score high enough quali
fy to perform in the state level
audition. The top students on
each instrument are then cho
sen to perform with the All-
State Band.
Jackson County students
making the band are: Sydney
Bain, Kristina Baker, Andrew
Morris, Tyler Brown, Thomas
Carroll and Brandon Smith.
Sydney plays bass clarinet,
is the daughter of Ted and
Pamela Bain of Braselton, and
is an eighth grader at West
Jackson Middle School.
Kristina plays flute, is the
daughter of John and Sandra
Baker of Hoschton, and is a
freshman at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School.
Andrew plays flute and
tenor saxophone, is the son of
Connie Bridges of Hull, and
is a senior at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School.
Tyler plays alto saxophone,
is the son of Michael and
Janet Brown, Houchton, and
is a senior at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School.
Thomas plays trombone
and euphonium, is the son
of Michael and Stephanie
Carroll of Hoschton, and is a
freshman at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School.
Brandon plays percussion,
is the son of Cheryl and Craig
Smith of Jefferson, and is
a senior at Jackson County
Comprehensive High School.
Dana Burzo, bassoon, has

been named as first alternate
to the All-State Band. She will
have the opportunity to per
form if someone in her section
is not able to attend.
The All-State Band is spon
sored by the Georgia Music
Educators Association to give
the state’s top musicians the
opportunity to rehearse and
perform with other outstand
ing musicians under the direc
tion of world-class composers
and conductors.

directors for the students.

JCCHS students make district honor band
THIRTY STUDENTS from
Jackson Comprehensive High
School were selected to per
form with the 2009 District
Honor Band.
Forty-three students from
JCCHS participated in the
competitive audition, 30
made District Honor Band,
and 23 scored high enough
to qualify for the state level
audition for the 2009 Georgia
All-State Band.
The District Honor Band
is sponsored by the Georgia
Music Educators Association
to give the regions’ most out
standing band students the
opportunity to rehearse and
perform advanced band lit
erature under the direction of
well-known composers and
conductors.
The event was held in Stone
Mountain February 19-21.
JCCHS tied for the high
est number of students in
the District Honor Band out
of over 40 high schools in
the district. Miles and Helen
Adams are band directors
for Jackson County High
School.

Patrick has asthma. The first
few years of his life he was in
and out of the hospital. At
age three> he began going to
Allergy & Asthma Care Center.
Thanks to Dr. Nish and his caring
staff, Patrick has controlled his
asthma symptoms without any
hospitalization and they have
helped him live a normal active
life.
