arrested 24 people during the past week,
including the following:

crime.
•Kevin Glen Jones, 19, 223 Glen Gee Road,
Pendergrass, harassing phone calls and aggra
vated stalking.
•William Chandler McDougald, 44, 148
Geiger Road, Jefferson, probation violation.
•Stacy Marie Powell, 34, 1601 Floyd Road,
Gainesville, probation violation.
•Patrick Claus Reese, 22, 693 Welford
Avenue, Jefferson, speeding and fleeing or
attempting to elude.
•Eddie Willis Sammones, 44, 25 Stark Street
lot 15, Commerce, possession of cocaine.

Man charged with child molestation
A JEFFERSON man was arrested last week Tommy Ray Horne, 22, of 185 Pine Street,
by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department Jefferson, was charged with one count of child
on a child molestation charge stemming from molestation. No other details were available as
an investigation initiated in January. of press time.

Burglar reported at Nicholson home
TWO MEN were watch
ing television when a burglar
walked into the living room.
The burglar, who ran from
the home when the men
yelled at him, took a laptop
computer from the bedroom.
Several items were also taken
from two vehicles parked in
the yard.
Other incidents reported to
the Jackson County Sheriff’s
Office last week include the

•dispute between a couple
at a Sanford Road, Nicholson,
residence.
•shoplifting at a Banks
Crossing business.
•trespassing at a Commerce
Road, Athens, residence.
•a Maysville Hwy. man
said a limb fell onto a vehicle
parked in his yard.
•an abandoned vehicle
found at a Riverbend Lane,
Bogart, address.
•custody dispute between a
Jefferson couple.
•fire at a Holiday Cemetery
Road, Athens, residence. The
victim said she had put a
propane heater on a counter
because the power was out.
•abandoned vehicle at
a Hwy. 441, Nicholson,
address.
•animal neglect at a Johnson
Drive, Braselton, residence.
•trespassing at a Commerce
Road, Athens, location.
•wallet, camera and per
sonal documents taken from
a Pinetree Circle, Maysville,
residence.
•simple battery during a
dispute between a Shortcut
Road, Nicholson, couple.
•abandoned vehicle at a

several people got pine bales
from her and has not paid for
them.

live-in boyfriend threatened
her.
•someone ran over an elec
tric line laying across Wayne
Farms Road and caused fur
ther damage to it.
•someone attempted to pry
open the door of a church on
Hwy. 124, Jefferson.
•purse stolen from a car
parked at a the county senior
citizen’s center. A credit card
in the purse was used at two
area businesses.
•fire at a Thaxton Road,
Nicholson, residence, when
the home-owners were using
their fireplace because the
power was out.
•verbal dispute between a
couple at a Hawks Court,
Nicholson, residence.
•trespassing at a Swann
Circle, Jefferson, address.
•custody dispute at a
Braselton residence.
•verbal dispute between a
married couple at a Braselton
home.
•tools, pipe and other items
taken from two burglars at
Commerce Hardware.
Nicholson fire last week
Couple killed in wreck
A JEFFERSON couple
was killed Friday in a wreck
involving an 18-wheeler at the
intersection of Highways 63
and 51 in Banks County.
Robert “Tony” A. Ianuario,
61, Cooley Avenue, Jefferson,
was traveling north on
Highway 63 in a 2007 Dodge
Magnum when he reported
ly pulled into the path of an
18-wheeler driven by Jeffrey
Lynn Russell, 48, Hickory
Street, Startex, S.C., who was
traveling east on Highway 51
North.
“The driver of the 18-wheeler
stated that the Dodge Magnum
stopped at the stop sign on
Highway 63 and then pulled
out into his path on Highway
51,” Banks County Sheriff
Charles Chapman said.
Ianuario was killed in the
crash along with his wife,
Mary Ann Ianuario, 60,
Cooley Avenue, Jefferson.
Chapman said both were killed
on impact.
Accidents at this intersec
tion have resulted in several
fatalities. Chapman said.
“Three people were killed at
this same intersection about a
year ago,” Chapman said.
The accident was investi
gated by the Georgia State
Patrol.

House fire reported last week
ON MARCH 2, units from
Arcade, South Jackson and
Jackson County Cl responded
to 2504 Holiday Cemetery
Road on a reported house
fire.
Upon arrival, units found
a single wide mobile home
about 50 percent involved
with fire. One family was dis
placed by the fire and relo
cated to relatives. No injuries
reported with major damage
to the structure.
One arrested in Arcade
THE ARCADE Police

ON MARCH 3, units
from Nicholson, Commerce
and the Jackson County Cl
Fire Departments, assisted
by Madison County Fire,
responded to 628 Thaxton
Road in Nicholson to a report
ed residential fire.
Upon arrival, they found a
single family residence with
heavy smoke showing from
the attic area. The fire was
quickly contained to two
rooms downstairs with heavy
damage to the attic area. The
cause of the fire is under
investigation but appears to
have originated around the
fireplace. Power was out at
the time of the incident due to
the winter storm.
No injuries were reported
and the incident was termi
nated at 17:06 hrs. One family
was displaced by the fire and
staying with relatives.

City of Maysville
NOTICE OF PUBLIC
HEARINGS
Please take notice that the City Council of the
City of Maysville, Georgia will hold a public
hearing on April 16, 2009, at 6:45 P.M. at the
Maysville Public Library to receive public
comments relating to proposed amendments to
the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Maysville
to place property located at 180 Church Street,
Maysville, Georgia, in the Historic Overlay
District and to provide that members of the
Maysville Planning Commission shall serve
four (4) year terms.
A regular meeting of the City Council will be
held immediately following the public hearing
at which the adoption of the changes will be
considered.
The Maysville Planning Commission will meet
on Monday, March 30, 2009 at the library at 6:30
p.m. to consider a recommendation on these
issues to the City Council.
