EJCHS BASKETBALL
EJCHS basketball camp coming up in June
THE FUTURE Eagles bas
ketball camp will be held
beginning Monday, June 1,
and will run through Thursday,
June 4 from 9 a.m. to 3:30
p.m.
The cost is $100 and $75 for
each additional sibling.
Each camper will receive a
JHS BASKETBALL
free t-shirt and lunch will also
be provided.
The camp will be run by
members of the East Jackson
High School coaching staff
and by East Jackson players.
The focus of the camp will be
to improve basic fundamen
tal basketball skills. Daily
competitions and awards will
be given. Sign-ups will run
through the first day of camp.

JHS basketball camps start June 1
WEST JACKSON CHAMPS
The West Jackson 10 year old Volcanoes took top honors recently to become the
2009 JCPR baseball champs. Team members include, pictured left to right, front row,

JEFFERSON HIGH School will play host
to the Jefferson Future Stars Basketball Camps
beginning next week.
The girls" camp will be held June 1-4 for
ages 5-14 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The boys camp will be held June 8-11 for
ages 5-14 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Both camps will be held at the JHS gym.
The cost is $65 for each camp.

Jason Gibson will conduct the camps, with
assistance from current and past varsity play
ers. The preliminary purpose of the camps will

be to help each player develop the basic funda
mental skills that they must master in order to
become an excellent player in the future. Time
will be spent each day on all of the basic funda
mentals. Players will be given the opportunity
to take those fundamental skills and use them
in game situations.
The camps will feature a free throw contest,
one-on-one contest, hot shot contest and team
tournaments.

SOX CAPTURE 13-14 TITLE
The Jefferson Red Sox defeated the Banks County Grey Leopards, Jefferson
Orioles and Jefferson Dodgers in recent tournament action to win the local 13
and 14-year-old baseball championship. In addition to the tournament sweep, the
team finished the season with a 14-2 overall record. Pictured are (front row, L to R)

OUTDOORS
Fishing camp slated for June 13
THE GEORGIA Department of Natural
Resources will sponsor a kids fishing Rodeo
on June 13. This is a community event hosted
by The Outdoors Network International and
will be held at the Hammers Glen Golf Club
in Homer. The event is for kids of fishing age
to 15 years old. Space is limited so an appli
cation for the event is required. Applications
can be picked up at the Commerce Wal
Mart and Shuler's Great Outdoor store in
Commerce. Applications must be turned in
no later than June 4 at 5 p.m.
The fishing is open to the kids only and
all fishers should bring their own tackle
and bait. All other details are listed on the
application.

several camps and clinics on
tap, as well as registration for
fall sports.
•Fast pitch softball camp runs
June 8-11 from 9 a.m. - 1
p.m. for ages 7-13. Camp will
be held at Lamar Murphy Park.
The cost to attend will be $65.
•Baseball camp will be held
June 8-11 from 9 a.m.-l p.m.
for ages 7-12. The camp will
be held at Lamar Murphy Park.
Cost to attend is $65.
•Golf Camp will be held June
15-18 from 9 a.m.-noon for
ages 9-12. Cost for beginners
is $125, $65 for those who
already have a set of clubs.
•Soccer camp will be held
June 8-12, hosted by Callaghan
Soccer and held at West Jackson
Park. Ages 5-12 will attend
camp from 9 a.m.-noon, while
ages 13-17 will attend from 4
p.m.-7 p.m. Cost is $110.
•Soccer camp will be held
July 13-17, hosted by Euro
Tech Soccer and held at Lamar
Murphy Park. Cost is $100,
$80 for Magic Micro ages 4-6.
