FIVE GENERATIONS CELEBRATE MOTHER’S DAY
Pictured (L-R) are five generations who celebrated Mother’s Day together: Jaxson
Dean Jarvis, (great-great grandson), Lauren Lance Jarvis (great-grand daugh
ter), Janda Morris Lance (granddaughter), Glinda Poe (Morris) Bailey(daughter)
and Vivian Poe (“Bibby”). Poe also has three other grandchildren, Jason Morris,
Audra Poe and Kevin Poe and three other great-granddaughters, Libbi Lance and
Lanna Morris and Ellie Poe. She is the oldest of her living siblings, Winifred Wilson,
Geraldine Bruce and Leon Wilson. Other members of her family by marriage are
Curtis Bailey, J.D. Morris, Keith Lance, Tyler Morris, Greg Jarvis, Kellie Poe, Jonah,
Gracie, Ethan and Olivia Watson and Odessa Wilson and Jackie Bruce. She still
actively operates Vivian’s Florist in Commerce, which she has owned for over 50
years. Family members surprised Poe at church on Mother’s Day.
PRIME TIMERS TRAVEL TO LAVONIA
The Prime Timers of Jefferson recently traveled to Gumlog Barbecue and Fish Lodge,
Lavonia, for lunch. The Prime Timers is a senior activity group that meets once a
month for lunch. Those interested in joining the group may call 706-367-0081.
Gardening to be topic at Jefferson library
ALI MERK from Farm Bureau will present an discuss patio gardening and gardening for food,
adult gardening program at 10 a.m. Wednesday, and will answer general gardening questions. For
June 3, at the Jefferson Public Library. Merk will details, call the library at 706-367-8012.
AT DANCE RECITAL
Girls from the Boys and Girls Club of Jackson County are shown performing at
a dance recital held at the Commerce Recreation Department. The club members
attended a nine-week “Club Dance Program” held by Kim Sellers of Commerce
School of Dance.

partnered with Kim Sellers
of Commerce School of
Dance to introduce the joy
and fundamentals of dance
into the lives of club mem
bers with a nine-week dance
program.
Sellers worked with the
kids as a part of a new ini
tiative in both the Jefferson
and Commerce Boys and
Girls Clubs. She visited
the clubs once a week to
teach members of the dance
program some new moves in
jazz and hip-hop.
On May 5, the members of
the “Club Dance Program”
performed for their parents,
staff, club board members
and the community. The
girls were excited to show
off their new skills at the
Commerce Recreation
Department.

was funded totally by spon
sorships by supporters of
the Boys and Girls Clubs of
Jackson County.
