Printmaking, ink painting set at Jefferson library
THE JEFFERSON Public Library will pres
ent printmaking and ink painting, a Just
My Imagination workshop sponsored by the
Georgia Museum of Art at 10 a.m. Saturday,
June 27. The program is free and recom
mended for children ages 6 and up.
Athens artist and teacher Jackie Slayton
Methe will begin the workshop with a discus
sion about printmaking and sumi-e painting
followed by a demonstration of techniques
and brush strokes.

of their daughter, Tabitha
Paige Mize, to Burch James
Wilson, son of the Rev.
Brad and Vicki Wilson of
Commerce.
The bride is the grand
daughter of Mark and
Charlene Whitlock, Inez
Mize and the late Matt Mize,
all of Commerce.
She is a 2002 graduate of
Commerce High School and
a 2006 graduate of Athens
Technical College. She is
employed by East Athens
Family Dentistry.
Mr. Wilson is the grandson
of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wilson,

(EPA) with a 2009 ENERGY
STAR Leadership in Housing
Award.
The award recognizes Jackson
EMC's efforts to promote energy-
efficient construction and envi
ronmental protection by sponsor
ing an ENERGY STAR for new
homes program in its service area
last year.
To earn the ENERGY STAR,
a home must meet strict guide
lines for energy efficiency set by
EPA. The homes are at least 15
percent more energy efficient than
homes built to local code, and
include additional eneigy-saving
features that typically make them
20-30 percent more efficient than
standard homes.
Jackson EMC is a member-
owned, not-for-profit cooperative
that provides power and related
services, such as energy efficient
products and security services, to
more than 204,000 meters in 10
Northeast Georgia counties.

ELDER
Elder named
at composers
competition
DANIEL ELDER, Jefferson,
placed second at the Dekalb
Choral Guild’s 2009 Georgia
Young Composers Festival.
Elder, a junior at the University
of Georgia majoring in music
composition, chose as his sub
ject Edgar Allen Poe’s “A Dream
Within a Dream,” creating a work
for a capella chorus.
The guild selected five high
school and collegiate composers
from across the state as final
ists to perform and compete at
Georgia State University.

Lane Asher Bell
Mike and DeAnne Bell, Maysville, announce the birth of a son,
Lane Asher Bell, on May 27, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical
Center.
He joins a sister, Falon, 11, and two brothers, Luke, 9, and Levi, 8.
The grandparents are Sara Bell, Jefferson, and Mr. and Mrs. Otis
Hiland, Maysville.
The great-grandparents are the late Byron and Elizabeth Smith,
Pendergrass, and the late Roy and Helen Lacey, Commerce.
