A THELT at the Bear
Creek Reservoir site is among
the incidents reported to the
Jackson County Sheriff’s
Office last week.
Eight chains and six binders
were taken from a trailer that
was at a boat ramp construc
tion site at the reservoir.
Other incidents reported to
the sheriff’s office last week
include the following:
•a Commerce Road man
said he left his vehicle at
a Commerce Road site and,
when he returned, it had been
damaged.
•theft of mail from a
Red Oak Road, Maysville,
address.
•battery during a dispute
between two adult brothers
at a Holiday Cemetery Road,
Jefferson, location.
•vehicle damaged at a
Holiday Cemetery Road,
Jefferson, address.
•simple assault during a
domestic dispute between a
married couple at a Timber
Ridge Drive, Athens, resi
dence.
•cigarettes and rolls of coins

her husband slapped her,
knocked her down, kicked her
in the stomach and pointed a
gun at her because “she didn’t
cook supper fast enough.”

ex-husband violated a court
order by calling her.
•road rage and harassment
at a Hwy. 98 location.
•verbal dispute between a
married couple at a Hawks
Court, Nicholson, residence.
•battery at a Holly Springs
Road, Pendergrass, address.
•harassing phone calls at a
Periwinkle Way, Pendergrass,
location.
•domestic dispute at a Silver
Dollar Road, Maysville,
address.
A GAINESVILLE man
was arrested by the Jefferson
Police Department after he
was stopped for speeding and
then ran into the woods.
Stanley Lamar Brown,
49, 18 East Main Street,
Gainesville, was charged
with speeding, reckless driv
ing, no licenses, driving with
cancelled registration, no
automobile insurance, affix
ing license plate to conceal or
misrepresent and obstruction
or hindering law enforcement
officers.
Brown ran into the woods
after a police officer pulled
him over for speeding. He
was later spotted by a county
deputy and arrested.
