EJCHS students selling cookbooks
THE EAST Jackson
Comprehensive High School
FCCLA Club has collected
the best recipes from students,
teachers, family and friends and
compiled them into a three-ring
binder cookbook.
These one of a kind cookbooks
may be purchased from any
EJCHS Family and Consumer
Sciences student or FCCLA
member.
All proceeds from the sale of
the cookbook will be used to
help send students to FCCLA
officer training, region and state
FCCLA competitions and meet
ings, as well support our local
FCCLA Community Service
Projects.
The cookbook, “A Taste of
East,” contains 400 well-loved
recipes including appetizers,
soups and salads, vegetables and
side dishes, main dishes, breads,
desserts, and cookies and candy.
Cookbooks cost $12

FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
Chris Moon, a Senior Video Broadcast Advance stu
dent at East Jackson Comprehensive High, filmed the
Eagles football opener against the West Hall Spartans.
Dave Wiley, owner and operator of JBTV54, has given
the young man a chance to work as an intern with his
local television station this school year. Moon has
completed the Broadcast Video Production Pathway
under Career and Technical Education. Their teacher
is Traci Smith.

student at East Jackson Comprehensive High, filmed the

FFA/FCCLA to host camp
JEFFERSON HIGH
School FFA/FCCLA held
their annual summer camp
in Covington. The officers
who attended were presi
dent, Casey Graham, vice
president, Jeremy Gee,
reporter, Jessica Runkel,
treasurer, Thomas Wilson,
sentential, Wayne Elliot and
security, Blake Randall.
Other students that attend
ed were Ryan Randall, J.T.,
Jay Lee and Cody.
The camp is designed
for students that are offi
cers or members of either
Future Farmers of America
or Future Career and
Community Leaders of
America. The camp was
Monday through Friday and
every day was exciting from
start to finish, students said.
The camp provided opportu
nities to develop leadership
skills, team building skills
and to compete in different
athletic events.
The athletic events offered
were softball, volleyball,
swimming and the leader
ship course.
In the athletic events,
competitors combined with
other schools attending the
camp to form the teams.
The students learned that
FFA/FCCLA is not only
about farming, but about
teamwork and leadership
skills. At the end of camp,
the Jefferson students and
their other teammates were
awarded the “Leadership
Team of the Week” award.
JCCHS group to
publish cookbook
THE JACKSON County
Comprehensive High School
Chapter of FCCLA (Family,
Career, and Community
Leaders of America) is
preparing a taste-tempting
cookbook featuring favorite
recipes from members of the
school and community.
All members of the com
munity are invited to submit
recipes. The names of the
contributors will be print
ed with each recipe. Each
cookbook will contain cook
ing hints, recipe category
dividers, a table of contents,
an index, and special pages
of interest to our school.
Proceeds from the cook
book sales will help fund
future projects sponsored by
the organization. Recipes
can be submitted by email
ing the chapter sponsors or
by mailing or bringing a
copy to the school. Copies
of the cookbook can also
be reserved. The Chapter
sponsors are Lydia Black

TOWN HALL
MEETING
The Jackson County Public Development
Department and the Upper Oconee Water Basin
Authority will hold a public town hall meeting at
7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at the
South Jackson Elementary School Cafeteria located
at 8144 Jefferson Road, Athens. This town hall
meeting will be to discuss the adopted Reservoir
Management Plan for the Bear Creek Reservoir.
