UPCOMING THIS WEEK
The Jefferson First United
Methodist Church has
launched a shepherding pro
gram. The membership has
been divided into groups of
15 to 20 families by geo
graphic location. A leader will
be selected from each group.
The leader will hold a group
meeting every three months
and may include communi
cations, mentoring, tracking,
liaison and reporting feedback
to the pastor. Leaders will be
rotated every 6-12 months.

gelism and nurture commit
tee, the group spearheading
the shepherding program, are:
Caroline Tracy, Ron King,
Bob Reynolds and Jo and
John Longo.
Hurricane Grove Baptist
Church, Commerce, will hold
its annual men’s and wom
en’s day program on Sunday,
September 6. The guest speak
er for the 11 a.m. service will
be the Rev. Ivey White, pastor
of Hurricane Baptist Church.
The guest speaker for the
women’s day service at 3 p.m.
will be minister Ethel White -
Goodrum of Move Mountain
Ministries. The church is

First Baptist Church

Wednesday night program
ming. The schedule is as
follows: 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., fam
ily night supper. $5 for adults

6:15 - 6:45 p.m., preschool
missions for three - five year
olds; 6:15-7 p.m., girls and
guys on a mission (GOAM)
kindergarten through fifth

12th graders: 6:45 - 7 p.m.,
preschool music; 6:30 - 7:30
p.m., adult prayer meeting and
Bible study: 6:45 - 7:30 p.m.,

preschool snack and play; 7
- 7:30 p.m., children’s music
and 7:30 - 8:30 p.m., adult

Monday night fellowship that

football beginning September
14, at 7 p.m. A live draft
for the fantasy football will
begin Thursday, September 3,

Redeemer Church, Cumming,
on Monday, September 14, at

Association will hold its
monthly meeting on Saturday,

Community Chapel
will hold its annual Labor
Day singing with special
guest Danny O’Day from
99.3 WCON, Cornelia. On
Saturday, September 5, at 6
p.m., “Naomi and the Segos,”
“The Homeland Boys” and
“The Maxwells” will perform.
On Sunday, September 6, at
6 p.m., “The Gilmer Sisters,”
“Sufficient Grace,” “The
Maxwells” and the “Chestatee
River Quartet” will perform.

(GGC) will offer two new ladies
Bible studies in September at
Galilee Christian Church in
the worship center. The study
“Bad Girls Of The Bible” by
Liz Curtis Higgs will be held
at 6:30 p.m. every Monday.
Due to Labor Day, the first
study will be held at 6:30
p.m. on Tuesday, September
8. Books are $10 each. Linda
Childers will be the facilitator.
The study “Stepping Up” by
Beth Moore will be held at 9
a.m. every Tuesday beginning
September 8. The cost for the
book is $15. Annis McClure
will be the facilitator. Both
books may be purchased at the
GGC’s table in the worship
center or during the classes.

The Prime Timers will
meet Thursday, September 10,
at 12:30 p.m. in the Jefferson
First United Methodist Church
fellowship hall for a fish fry
and the first meeting of 2009 -
2010. Fresh fish caught by the
church “fishermen” on a recent
trip to Florida will be served.
There will also be hushpup-
pies, cheese grits, baked
potato, slaw and dessert. “The
Encouragers” will perform.
Tickets may be purchased for
$6 from Caroline or Frankie.
Also, a trip to the Smokey
Mountain Festival at Lake
Junaluska in Waynesville, N.
C. is planned for Friday and
Saturday, September 4 and 5.
Tickets are $169 and include
two nights lodging, two break
fasts, two lunches, two dinners
and tickets to performances.
The Jefferson First United

“Discerning the Voice of God”
on Tuesday, September 8, at 7
p.m. This will be a six-week
study plus an introduction ses
sion.
The Sardis Presbyterian
Church, Jefferson, will hold a
midweek fellowship and wor
ship service on Wednesday,
September 9. Dinner will
be served at 6 p.m. in the
church fellowship hall. Praise
and worship, testimonies, and
the spoken word will be held
in the church sanctuary at 7

Arbor Pointe Church
will host “The Big Event”
on Saturday, September 12,

recently purchased property.
There will be a cookout, live
music, a bounce house, cotton

and games. The event is for
all ages. The church holds ser
vices on Sunday mornings at
10:30 a.m. at the West Jackson
Middle School, and plans to
build a facility on its property.
