conversion allowed Jefferson to hold a slim
28-27 lead.
Jefferson would flex their muscles in the
fourth quarter, first scoring with just over five
minutes remaining on the clock to pull out to
a 35-27 advantage. Then, with just under two

slipped past the Rebels to score again, making

JCCHS to play Buford and Johnson Thurs.
THE LADY Panthers vol
leyball team continues to look
for traction after suffering two
losses last week on the road.
Jackson County has a
chance to regain their footing
this week, as they face Buford
and Johnson at Johnson
Thursday. The first match is
scheduled to get under way
at 6 p.m.
The Lady Panthers trav
eled to Lakeview Academy
last Thursday. They opened
against Houston County, los
ing the match 2-0 with set
scores of 25-6 and 25-12.
Next up was a pairing
with Jefferson, who defeated
Jackson County 2-0 with set
scores of 25-20 and 25-14.
The Lady Panthers then
faced the Lady Lions of
Lakeview. Lakeview came
away with the 2-0 win, with
set scores of 25-14 and
25-21.
Jackson County was
scheduled to play host to
Hart County and Archer on
Tuesday. Results of those
matches were unavailable at
press time.
Panthers continued from IB
-formance has been great.
“Our fan base in the last few weeks has
tripled,” he said. “We had the biggest crowd
Jackson County has had in probably 20 years
and our kids have fed off of that. It’s an
attribute to our community and our football
team.
“People are beginning to recognize the
Jackson County Panthers for the first time in
a long time.”
JCCHS continued from IB
part in the Veterans Memorial Park tournament
over the weekend.
Jackson County started their tournament with
a pairing against Parkview. The Lady Panthers
hit well, and came away with a 4-3 win.
“I think they took us lightly and didn’t expect
us to defeat them,” said coach Lisa Robinson.
“We are very proud of the girls for playing both
smart and hard throughout the game.”
Shinall picked up the win from the mound.
Next was a Friday night game against North
Oconee that saw the Lady Panthers’ seven-
game win streak brought to an end, as Jackson
County lost 5-1.
“We ran out of gas and didn’t show up,”
Robinson said.
It was more of the same the next morning, as
Jackson County found themselves on the short
end of a 9-1 score against Lovett.
“We didn’t show up at all in this game,”
Robinson said. “Lovett did not outplay us, we
outplayed ourselves. We made eight defensive
errors and struggled at the plate. This was
atypical to the way we normally play.”
Haley Shinall started the game, and recorded
the loss. Drake Vissering came in to close.
The Lady Panthers took the next game
against Social Circle and turned their weekend
around. At one point, the Lady Redskins led
2-0, but Jackson County came back, steadily
placing runners in scoring position, and came
away with a 3-2 victory.
“After some soul searching and a gut check,
we came into this game with a fresh approach
and the will to win,” Robinson said. “The
Panthers bounced back as a teamand cheered
one another on throughout the game.”
Haley Shinall recorded the win from the
mound.
Jackson County wrapped up the tournament
with a pairing against Riverwood. The team
came out swinging, scoring in the first inning.
In the end, it was the Lady Panthers winning
8-3.
Haley Shinall started the game from the
mound, with Zoe Evans coming on in relief.
Monday saw the beginning of more tourna
ment play, as the Lady Panthers traveled to
North Hall for the North Fall Classic.
Jackson County opened play against Hebron
Academy, winning 5-4. They then moved on
to face North Hall, coming away with a 2-2
tie.
Individual statistics were unavailable at press
time.
Jackson County was slated to host Mountain
View in region play at home Tuesday night.
Results were unavailable at press time.
