JES STUDENTS RECOGNIZED
Jefferson Elementary School’s character education word of the month for August
was “friendship”. Each classroom selected a student to attend the Dragon Diner for
showing friendship to others at school and they were treated to pizza and cookies
on the stage in the cafeteria. Parents were also invited to share in the festivities.
Students from first and second grades attending the dinner were: (front row, L-R)
Valerie Hardigree, Gracie Beem, Halie Jackson, Hunter McNatt, Sam Sparks, Reese
Alford and Adam Phillips; and (middle row, L-R) Ease Barker, Jessie Horne, Reilly

ly-promoted cadet officers for
the 2009-2010 school year.
Speakers at this event includ

County Comprehensive High
School, Todd McGhee; the
Senior Army Instructor, LTC
Cleveland; and the Cadet
Battalion Commander, Cadet
LTC Kody Love.

takes place at the beginning
of every school year to rec
ognize the cadets who are
being promoted. Unlike tra
ditional promotions that take
place in class, on the night
of the officer's commission

cadets may choose a fami
ly member to present them
with their newly earned rank.
Before receiving their rank,
the cadets recite the Oath of
Office before taking their posi
tion.
At the recent ceremony, there
were 19 cadets who received
officer ranks. They are:

to Cadet Lieutenant Colonel.
•Ana Rodriguez was pro
moted to Cadet Major.
•Katie Rodriguez was pro
moted to Cadet Major.
•Joshua Bridgeman was pro
moted to Cadet Captain.
•Matthew Higgins was pro
moted to Cadet Captain.
•Garet Kraft was promoted
to Cadet Captain.
•Cheyenne Loadholt was
promoted to Cadet Captain.
•Dorette Narain was pro
moted to Cadet Captain.
•Andrew Ondo was promot
