TRIPPE
Rotary Students of the Month named
THE JEFFERSON Rotary
Club has named the Students
of the Month for September.
They are: Evan Williamson,
East Jackson Comprehensive
High School; Deep Patel,
Commerce High School;
Robert Williams, Jackson
County Comprehensive High
School; and Melody Trippe,
Jefferson High School.
WILLIAMSON
Williamson is the son of
Steve and Sharon Williamson.
His activities include
Fellowship of Christian
Athletes and serving as co
editor and chief of the school
paper. He is a member of the
football, baseball and bas
ketball teams. Williamson’s
honors include receiving
the University of Georgia
Certificate of Merit, Spanish
Honor Society, National
English Honor Society, Top
Ten Percent being ranked
eighth out of 191 in class
and Georgia High School
Football Magazine pre-sea-
son Academic All-State for
Class AA.
Evan chose Denise Backus
as his most influential teach
er. He plans to play football
at a Division H college and
major in either journalism
or sports management. If
he doesn’t play football, he
plans to attend the University
of Georgia.
PATEL
Patel is the son of Kirit
and Naina Patel. His activi
ties include Beta Club,
Key Club, HOSA, Student
Government, Chess Club,
Academic Team and Peer
Monitor. He is a member
of the tennis team. Patel’s
honors include Georgia
Certificate of Merit, National
Honor Roll, Governor’s
Honors Nominee and CHS
representative at the 2008
Jackson EMC Energy Bowl.
Deep chose Matthew
Dahlke, science teacher, as
his most influential teach
er. He hopes to attend the
University of Georgia and
enroll in the pre-medicine
program. He then plans to
attend medical school and to
one day be a surgeon.
WILLIAMS
Williams is the son of
Robert and Lori Williams.
His activities include foot
ball captain, Beta Club vice
president, baseball team,
National Honors Society,
Eagle Scout and Student
Advisory Committee.
Robert’s honors and
awards include letter
ing since sophomore year
in football and serving as
captain, Football Scholar
Athlete Award, Character
Award, Offensive Most
Valuable Player in football,
lettering in baseball since
freshman year, Pawsitive
Panther Award, Commitment
to Excellence Award, Eagle

Team All Region Baseball
and Offensive Most Valuable
Player in baseball.
He chose Coach Kennedy
as his most influential
teacher. He plans to attend
Georgia Tech or Washington
and Lee University to play
baseball. Williams plans to
study law after college and
start a law firm and live near
the ocean.
TRIPPE
Trippe is the daughter of
Charlton and Sarah Trippe.
Her activities include serv
ing as co-editor of the
Jeffersonian Yearbook,
member of Galilee Christian
Church, FBLA Club, secre
tary of Photography Club,
Beta Club and HOSA Club.
Her honors and awards
include highest average in
10 th literature, Algebra II,
Algebra III, Citizenship,
Business Document
Processing, Website Design,
11 th Literature, 3-D Award
and Josten’s Photo Contest
honorable mention.
Melody chose Christina
Healan as her most influ
ential teacher. She plans to
attend Georgia State College
for two years and then trans
fer to North Georgia College.
She wants to become a
registered nurse. After she
receives her bachelor’s
degree, she should like to
first gain some work experi
ence and then go to graduate
school and receive her mas
ter’s degree and become a
nurse practioner.
CREATES ROBOTS
Karen Blackburn’s second grade class at Jefferson Elementary School recently read
‘Sid and Bolter,’ a story about robots. As a response to this story, each student cre
ated his/her own robot from materials found at home (with the help of some very
talented and creative parents). These robots will be used throughout the year for
various writing assignments.
SHIRLEY HONORED AT EVENT
A market gilt shown by Becky Shirley, a senior
FFA member at East Jackson Comprehensive
High School, recently won grand champion at
the Jackson County Jackpot Pig Show. The event
was held at Jackson County Comprehensive High
School, and welcomed students from six surround
ing counties. Approximately 78 pigs were exhibited
at the show, which was sponsored by the Georgia
Farm Bureau.
