SHOPPING EXPERIENCE
Girl Scout Troop 11948 was invited to shop with a law enforcement officer at the
Wal-Mart at Hamilton Mill. The troop was able to invite 10 children from Jackson
County to shop for Christmas items for themselves and their families. Santa was
present and about 15 Gwinnett County officers.
CHRISTMAS SWIM
The Girl Scout Troop 11948 recently went swimming to help get in the Christmas
spirit. While the girls were swimming, Santa visited and handed out gifts.

Benefit supper ahead for Vicki Robinson
A BENEFIT supper and singing for Vickie
Robinson will be held on Saturday, January
16, at the Lighthouse Congregational Holiness
Church in Commerce. The supper will be

Members of the Pilot Club of Jefferson set up their Remembrance Tree outside the
Crawford W. Long Museum. Christmas ornaments are sold “to honor” or “in mem
ory” of loved ones for the annual fundraiser. The Pilot club meets at the Jefferson

Connell completes basic combat training
ARMY PFC. Celene D. Cornell has gradu
ated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson,
Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier
studied the Army mission, history, tradition and
core values, physical fitness, and received instruc
tion and practice in basic combat skills, military
weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training,
drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship,
armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field
tactics, military courtesy, military justice system,
basic first aid, foot marches, and field training
exercises.
She is the daughter of William and Robin
Connell of Jefferson. Connell graduated in 2004
from Jackson County Comprehensive High School,
Jefferson, and received an associate degree in 2007
from Gainesville State College, Oakwood.
