continue to look for their first
region victory of the season.

a 26-22 lead. In the fourth,
both teams worked hard for an
advantage. At the end, it was
Social Circle coming away with
the 45-39 victory.

in scoring with 12 points and
three assists. Mikki McGinnis

“It is very frustrating that
we have been in three very
close games this season and
we have come up on the losing
end of all of them,” said coach
Amy Larimer. “We have to
find a way to turn up the inten
sity at the end of the game so
that those games can swing our
way. What we have to have
for that to happen is a desire to
finish and increased competi
tiveness.”

East Jackson defeats Social Circle
IT WAS a rough start to the
Sweet South Classic in Morgan
County for the East Jackson
Eagles, as they lost their tour
nament opener to Luella before
moving on to face Putnam
County and Social Circle,
picking up a win in the latter
game.
The Eagles will hit the court
again Friday night when they
host Fannin County. Tip-off is
scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
The Eagles opened the
tournament against the Lions
of Luella, who entered the
Christmas break with a 6-2
overall record.
The Eagles were looking
to rebound off of last week's
loss to Jackson County, and
to hopefully improve their 2-7
overall record.
But it didn’t work out that
way, as Luella came away with
the win in the opening round
match up, 76-52.
Brandon Garrett led the
Eagles in scoring with 12
points on the game.

The Eagles went to work
defensively in the second quar

rest of the game to put together
a 75-58 win.
Brandon Garrett scored 27
points in the game. Cody
Gibbs scored 13.
“Our defense lead to some
easy offense which is what we
need to be successful night
in and night out,” said coach
Brian Turner.
The Eagles were scheduled
to travel to Rabun County
Tuesday night to take on the
Wildcats in region play. Results
