Sweet tea debate leads to fight
AN ARGUMENT about
sweet tea led to a three-
person fight, according to
Braselton police.
A man told police that he
and a 22-year-old woman
got into an argument about
sweet tea, according to an
incident report. The man
said the woman “got in my
face,” pushed him down and
starting hitting him.
The man said he hit the
woman with his walking
cane to get her off of him.
An officer said the man had
abrasions on his knees and
red marks on his back.
The woman told an officer
that she and the man had an
argument about sweet tea,
and he started to push and hit
her with a cane. The woman
said she pushed the man to
get away from him and a
second man also started hit
ting her. She said she hit
the second man to defend
herself.
A second man told an offi
cer that the woman got mad
at the first man and pushed
him down. The second man
tried to get the woman off
the first man, while she hit
him and tried to choke him.
The second man said he hit
the woman in the face to
defend himself and the first
man.
The woman was in the
process of moving out of
the Blanc Way residence,
according to an incident
report. She was paying rent.
The woman didn’t have
involvement with either man
and the sweet tea incident
was not considered a domes
tic violence case, an officer
wrote in his report. There
was no determination of the
primary aggressor.
The three people were told
that they could take out war
rants for the others involved
in the incident, if they want
ed. There were no arrests.
Two officers waited while
the woman continued pack
ing her remaining belong
ings.
BRASELTON
INCIDENTS
The following inci
dents were reported to the
Braselton Police Department
last week:
•lost or mislaid property at
a Ga. Hwy. 53 address, where
a Braselton officer said he
couldn’t find his department-
issued cell phone. The offi
cer retraced his routes for the
evening and later reported
the cell phone missing to his
supervisor.
•disorderly under the
influence of alcohol at a
White Walnut Way address,
where officers said a daugh
ter was trying to hit her
mother’s parked car. An offi
cer said when he arrived,
he could smell burnt rub
ber and noticed black skid
marks on the ground. A Jeep
didn’t hit a Mercedes Benz,
but came close. An offi
cer met the mother outside
the house. When he later
walked into the house, the
daughter yelled obscenities
at him, told him to leave
and tried pushing the offi
cer out the door. The officer
said the mother contacted
police and was concerned
about her daughter’s safety.
A second officer calmed
down the daughter, while
the first officer talked to the
mother outside. The mother
told the officer about several
factors in her daughter’s life
affecting her. A brother later
helped convince the daugh
ter to go to a hospital, with
an officer escorting the fam
ily out of a safety concern.
CDC: warns emails about
H1N1 program are scam
THE CENTERS for
Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) is warn
ing about a potential email
“phishing” scam involving
the state vaccination pro
gram for H1N1.
The email asks people
to create a personal H1N1
(“swine flu”) vaccination
profile on the CDC.gov web
site.
The email says that every
one 18 and older must have a
personal vaccination profile
on the website — regardless
if they have been vaccinated
or not for the H1N1 virus. It
asks users to click on a link
to create a personal profile.
Users that click on the
embedded link in the email
are at risk of having mali
cious code installed on their
system, the CDC said in a
statement.
Users are urged to not
open or respond to unsolic
ited email messages, not to
click on links embedded in
emails from unknown send
ers and use caution when
providing personal informa
tion online.
