Norris Abercrombie, 94, died
Wednesday, December 30,
2009, at the Hill Haven Nursing
Home in Commerce.
Born in Franklin County
on February 12, 1915, she
was the daughter of the late
James William and Effie Martin
Norris. She was a homemak
er and member of the Gaines
Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs.
Abercrombie was preceded in
death by her husband, James
Abercrombie; son, FrankMyers;
and grandson, Greg Myers.
Survivors include grandsons
Lamar and Dwight Myers; 13
great-grandchildren; 15 great-
great-grandchildren; and a sis
ter, Nell Haynie, Canon.
Burial was in the Rose Hill
Cemetery Thursday, December
31.

BETHLEHEM Eunice
Berry, 88, died Thursday,
December 24, 2009.
Born December 6, 1921, in
Jackson County, she was the
daughter of the late Jake and
Anna Ruth Jennings. A member
of Tabernacle Baptist Church,
she was a faithful member of
the Mission, Mother Board and
the Choir. She retired as line
leader from Marrell Chicken
Poultry in Gainesville after
25 years of service and later
worked for Russell Nursing
Home, Carwood Manufacturing
Company and as a home care
taker. Mrs. Berry was preceded
in death by her husband of 63
years, Johnny Berry; children,
John Berry Jr., Willie Gus
(Sonny) Berry and Barbara Jean
Berry.
Survivors include sons and
daughters-in-law, Emory and
Barbara Jean Berry, LaFayette,
and Larry and Barbara Ann
Berry, Monroe; daughters and
sons-in-law. Minister Jannel
Harris and Betty Warbington,
both of Bethlehem, and Dorothy
and Jimmy Johnson, Winder;
also reared in the home, nephew
Robert Woods and grandchil
dren, Gloria Moore and Anthony
Berry; 21 grandchildren; 42
great-grandchildren; and 25
great-great-grandchildren.

White Oak Springs Baptist
Church, Winder, with the Revs.

was in Barrow Memorial

Joan Cannady
ATHENS - Joan Gertrude
Cannady, 75, died Monday,
December 28, 2009, at her resi
dence.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she
was the daughter of the late
James and Gertrude Cashwell.
From Ohio she moved to
Clinton, N.C., where she lived
until moving to Athens in 1972.
She worked as a registered
nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital
until retirement after 48 years
of service. She loved to travel
the United States as well as
also visiting at least 20 other
countries. Her most meaning
ful travels were visiting her
son's family during their over
seas assignments in Japan and
Iceland, and participating in a
medical mission trip to India in
2001 for 17 days where she was
able to use her nursing experi
ence to help those in need. She
was a member of First Baptist
Church of Athens.
Survivors include her hus
band of 52 years, James Dallas
Cannady; son and daughter-
in-law, James Dallas Cannady
Jr. and Shelley Cannady, Ila;
daughter and son-in-law, Karen
Joan and Kenneth Whitley,
Danielsville; brothers and
sister-in-law, James and Lilo
Cashwell, Richmond, Va., and
Joseph Cashwell, Pensacola,
Fla.; sisters and brothers-in-
law, Ann (Don Dummit) Tuley,
Portland, Ore., Connie and

was at Evergreen Memorial

John Caudell
CORNELIA - John Kenneth
Caudell, 76, died Tuesday,
December 29, 2009, following
an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on
July 18, 1933, he was the son
of the late Pitner L. and Decie
Coker Caudell. He was a mem-
of Cornelia
and a member
of the Men’s Sunday School
Class. He served his country
proudly in the United States
Navy as a Chief Petty Officer
in the Korean Conflict and the
Vietnam War. He also served as
an administrative assistant with
the Veteran's Administration
with over 30 years of service.
Mr. Caudell was preceded in
death by sisters, Cora Caudell,
Mary Sue Donahue, Bernice
Andrews, Doris Comer; and
brothers, Oscar Caudell, Hermit
Caudell and Louis Caudell.
Survivors include a brother
and sister-in-law, Wayne and
Betty Caudell, Jefferson; sisters
and brother-in-law, Christine
Ivester, Cornelia, Bonnie and
Armond Goza, Tucker; and sev
eral nieces, nephews, relatives
and friends.

Friday, January 1, 2010, from
the Whitfield Funeral Home
with the Rev. David Turner offi
ciating. Burial was in the Yonah
Memorial Gardens with full
military honors provided by the
American Legion Post #84, the

Club.
Survivors include her hus
band of 67 years, Egbert W.

worked part-time with Tim
Graham Construction. She was
an active member of the Oak
Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her hus

daughter, Jean Crane,
Danielsville; stepsister, Jeanette
Glenn, Carlton; and a number
of grandchildren and great
grandchildren.

Thursday, January 7, at 11 a.m.,
at the Oak Grove Baptist church
with the Revs. Robert Garrett
and James Creason officiating.
Burial will be in the Meadow
Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive

Wednesday, January 6, from 7
to 9 p.m. The body will be
placed in the church at 10 a.m.

Northside Forsyth Hospital.
Born in Atlanta, she was the
daughter of the late William
and Annie V. Webb. She was
an active member of Mt. Olive
Baptist Church in Commerce
and a former member of
Northwoods Baptist Church
in Doraville. She retired from
Regions Bank in Banks County.
Mrs. Haney was preceded in
death by husbands Thomas
Algard and William Haney; a
son, Joseph Algard; and son-in-
law, Paul Breuggemann.
Survivors include daughters,
Gwen (Brad) Hays, Cumming,
and Pat Brueggemann, Duluth;
sons, Jeff (Katrina) Algard,
Jackson, and Bo (Quettie)

children; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
