gation gave 135 toy bears
in December at the “Beary
Christmas” project. All were
donated to local emergency
services, law officers, domes
tic violence workers or other
agencies in Jackson County.
“Children in our community
who are experiencing a trau
matic situation will receive
one of the bears as a means
of comfort and to share God’s
love with them,” said the Rev.
Carey Gibson, church pastor.
Beauchamp’s Gospel Hall,
Nicholson, will present “The
Lord’s Messenger’s Bluegrass”
on Saturday, January 16, from
6-9 p.m. There will be no
admission, but a love offer

First Baptist Church,
Jefferson, will hold the fol
lowing events: a trip to Youth
Winter Jam 2010 on Sunday,
January 17. Departure from
the church will be at 3:30
p.m. and the cost is $10; a
men’s Bible study titled
“Romans” by N.T. Wright will
begin Monday, January 18,
at 7 p.m. They will meet on
the first and third Mondays;
“Hoping Liberia,” written by
the church’s pastor, Michael
Helms, is available for pur
chase. The cost is $18 and all
proceeds benefit Bricks for
Ricks Foundation. The church

The Miracle Deliverance
Holiness Church, Commerce,
will host a benefit program for
Mr. C. B. Lester of Jefferson
on Saturday, January 16, at 6
p.m. Mr. Lester is on dialysis
three times a week and is in
need of a kidney transplant.
The featured guest groups will
be “The Heavenly Voices”
of Athens, the “Miracle
Deliverance Praise Team,” the
“One Accord” of Commerce
and the Rev. David Sims and
the “Young Lighthouse” of
Athens. The church is located
at 46 Hickory Street.
Prime Time will travel
to Gumlog Bar-B-Que and
Catfish House in Lavonia
for lunch on Friday, January
15. “After lunch and fellow
ship we will be touring the
Methodist Church in Lavonia
before returning home around
3 p.m. Sign up for this great

seat on the JFUMC tour bus,”

no covered dish on Thursday,
January 14.
Abundant Life Church,
Jefferson, will hold a sing
ing on Saturday, January 16,
at 6 p.m. “Eastern Bound
Reunion,” “Divine 3” and the
“Chestatee River Quartet” will
perform.

Conference on April 9-11.
The deadline for a deposit
is Friday, January 15; Pastor
Waller will bring the third
message in the “Running To
Win in 2010” series titled “The
State Of The Church 2010” on

Wednesdays from 12-4 p.m.;
and a new children’s choir will
start on Sunday, January 17

can help us with projects,”

Also, anyone who is 50 and
older may join Saints Alive.
“We will have many opportu
nities for fellowship, food and
travel throughout the year,”

covered dish luncheon with a
program will be offered. Other
months the group may travel.

the Crawford Long Museum
and have lunch in Jefferson.

The St. Catherine Laboure
Church, Jefferson, has teamed
up with an area wellness
coach is offering a 12-week
weight loss challenge that
began Thursday, January 7.
The class is offering a quick,
easy weight loss solution and
long term weight loss suc
cess including information on
nutrition and health. During
the 12 weeks, materials will
be supplied and prizes will be
awarded. Participants will get
a free body analysis, learn how
to shop, learn portion control
and dining out tips and more.
Each participant will have his
or her own personal wellness

Forge; Everyone is asked to
continue to be in prayer for
the weekend of Bible study,
fun and fellowship. Each per
son attending is asked to pay
$100, unless there are 2 or
more youth in a family, then
the cost is $75 per person.

until the day of the retreat.
