CDC: Emails about
H1N1 program are scam
THE CENTERS for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC)
is warning about a potential
email “phishing” scam involv
ing the state vaccination pro
gram for H1N1.
The email asks people
to create a personal H1N1
(“swine flu”) vaccination pro
file on the CDC.gov website.
The email says that every
one 18 and older must have
a personal vaccination profde
on the website — regardless
if they have been vaccinated
or not for the H1N1 virus. It
asks users to click on a link to
create a personal profde.
Users that click on the
embedded link in the email
are at risk of having malicious
code installed on their system,
the CDC said in a statement.
Users are urged to not open
or respond to unsolicited
email messages, not to click
on links embedded in emails
from unknown senders and
use caution when providing
personal information online.
